• Years ago, I attempted to get a Patreon page started and running, to help fund these activities. Of course, with my small audience, it never really gained any momentum. Honestly, I never really produced enough content to justify any interest anyway – so it wasn’t much of a surprise. At this stage, I believe the content quality has improved a lot, and I am currently motivated to produce regular material again – so I am giving it another try with more moderate goals. Primarily, I am looking to fund additional camera and audio gear to improve the production quality a…

  • Finished up the second session video over the long US weekend, and working on uploading it to YouTube. Should be published on schedule on Friday. If you haven’t subscribed yet, now is a good time and you will receive a notification when the video goes live. YouTube Formatting is quite a bit changed – most of the scenes are composites of several of the cameras, I finally have decent background music, and I opted to add additional text notes this time. Not sure if they will be more engaging or more distracting, but it helped me make some clarification comments,…

  • Taking the role of Neutral authority in the group is the Champion Gwendolyn Viktor. A human character, she has adopted the stance of Redeemer of Sarenrae, seeking to bring the troubled and evil back to the light. As a Dragon Scholar, Gwendolyn brings a sense of education and curiosity to the group, eager to encounter any signs or stories of dragons in the region. Of course, with the Age of Ashes campaign, there are sure to be plenty of dragons in the future. Thus far, most of the focus of the Champion has been on keeping the new group alive.…

  • One of the most joyful of the party of adventurer’s is the Half-Orc Fighter known only as Happy Feet. He is played by Carter, who previously had played as the group’s Monk and Bard in prior campaigns. Happy Feet, despite his name, has always focused on his training and martial prowess. Before becoming an adventurer, he spent most of his time practising his skills as a Martial Disciple. Even up to the start of the first game, his self-described background was “training”, up until they point that he decided to go forth and seek adventure. In game, Happy Feet utilizes…

  • Been working on our latest game session, trying to wrangle the various video streams and audio. My template from the last game is helping a lot, and I think in general I have the overall order of operation sorted out. In addition, I believe I have sorted out the issue with audio synchronization to video – cell phones and GoPros record in variable frame rate. As such, those need to be pre-converted to a constant frame rate in order for Premiere Pro to understand them cleanly. Technically, variables rates are “supported”, but for whatever reason, they don’t work for me.…

  • Second game session completed, and characters are starting to come together. We wrapped up the fire in the town hall, and the group is now Breechill’s officially hired adventurers. Their first mission is to head to Hellknight hill, discover the trouble with the goblin tribe, and locate the arsonist who torched the council chambers. In general, the game ran well, though we are still adjusting to the new 2nd edition mechanics. As a result, there where a number of stops to look up rules and details. This was made a bit easier with Fantasy Grounds and its cross-linking, but there…

  • Our first session is now available, for good or bad. Although this is far from a professional video, I am decently happy with how it turned out. Of course, most of the credit goes to the group for providing the details of the story. https://youtu.be/M5Zfggo_aik After reviewing the video several times, I continue to have improvements and changes that will likely take place over the next several episodes. The first is a change of cameras – several of my current cameras record in different frame rates. That makes it exceedingly challenging to sync up audio with faces, as you may…

  • The second of our merry band is a rebuild of the season 2 character, though now a descendant. Pokey Darkstrike is a Dwarf Fighter, played by my son, who has only recently started playing roleplaying games with us. As a player, he is eager and learning quickly, though of course has challenges occasionally when the game is slow (as it tends to be with 10 players). Pokey is a thru and thru warrior, with a strong work ethic. His background is that of a laborer – spending long hours hauling heavy loads – which gives him an impressive encumbrance limit…
