Continuing my video evolution, working on some new audio options for this coming Sunday’s regular game. Should be much improved audio, though I expect there will be some additional tweaking necessary to fine tune things. However, given my current travel plans, I am hoping to do some informal testing this week in preparation. At the same time, I am hoping (fingers crossed) that my day job will not interrupt our session this time, and we can get a full game in. Not only was it disappointing this last time, but it was also disruptive for my normal schedule – I…

As highlighted in our recent gaming videos, we use a collection of 3d printed True Tiles, based on models available from Hero’s Hoard. The basic model has been altered with some external designs, to include magnets in the base frame, while the surface is the same. The problem in the past has been that the number of tiles I had made it challenging to finish painting. No longer – after another batch painting session, I now have my full collection (minus one tile that slipped thru) painted and game ready. I also printed and painted a number of scatter terrain…

Been running into a number of problems with the 3d printer recently, while I have been trying to create new terrain pieces for our gaming. The most notable concern has been a layer shift – at mostly random heights, the print seems to shift in the Y-axis, sometime plus, and sometime negative. It isn’t consistent enough to cause a stair step effect, and it sometimes switches directions, depending on the print. But a number of the prints have ended up unusable as result. Initially, I thought it was perhaps a loose belt (which did not seem to be the case),…

As expected, with the short session this last game, the editing ran remarkably fast – I was able to upload the video last night, and queue it up for publishing next week on schedule. Total length came in at about 50 minutes, which was longer than I expected, but the amount of recorded footage was significantly shorter. Been toying with the idea of pre-releasing the video for Patreon backers, but honestly I doubt there is any interest – and certainly not a large enough audience. In truth, I am holding off mainly because I don’t want to restrict my own…

As part of my recording kit, I have been looking for a low cost, used camcorder, to match my current pair. Specifically, this would be a Canon Vixia HF R800. I have been watching Amazon for a sale, but mainly reviewing Facebook Marketplace for inexpensive options. Yesterday I managed to locate one, for a good price, in good condition, which came with a tripod (bonus). I reached out to the seller, and yes, it was still available. And then they stopped responding, when I asked where and when to meet – no response since. At this point, I expect it…

Unfortunately, our Age of Ashes campaign session this week was a bit shortened after an emergency call from my day-job. We managed to only get about 2 hours into the game, when I had to cancel the session entirely. The good news is that editing will be correspondingly faster this week, the bad news is that the group was particularly exciting and involved in the game at the time. Currently evaluating if we will try to fit in an extra game this Sunday, or hold off until our normal schedule.

Publishing the 4th episode this week, where the group finally locates and rescues the Bumblebrasher goblins. This one was a rather fun session, the group was rather invested by the time they fought the graulodons, and there was a lot of challenging actions. Continuing to improve the video itself – the audio is a little better (though there is still some echo), and I am much happier with the camera angles. With the repositioning of the camera, I ended up capturing a fair bit of the behind the gm-screen material, so I opted to blur it out. Not really a…

On the website, I am trying to encourage more comments and discussion, so for at least a time, I am going to disable the requirement to list an email address and name. Comments still have to be approved (to avoid spammers), and the auto-blocking tools are still in place (again, for spamming), but perhaps this will encourage the occasional visitor to leave a comment or two. In general, I get a vast number of comments, but practically every one is automatic spam entries. Current metrics are showing 204,000 spam comments (all blocked), and 9 “real” comments through out the website.…
