Side project I have been working on is a clear marker for who is holding the light in RPG groups. Commonly, we have found that we forget about light, and have difficulty with the group remembering where the light is, during a game session. Sometimes this isn’t important, but many times it can play a big part in the current scenario. In the past, we tried to just remember – but that was hit and miss at best. With the shrinking of electronics however these days, my concept is to use a small LED light and a button cell battery,…

I finally decided to dive further into the painting hobby, and have ordered an Airbrush kit, to be delivered this week. Airbrushing, specifically for hobby gaming and painting, has been a casual interest of mine over the years, but was always intimidating. I am much more of a traditionalist, with brushes doing drybrushing and washes. For the most part, I consider myself passable. However, given the limited time and scheduling, and my increased volume from 3d printing, I am falling further behind on painting that I really do want to complete. From my research, airbrushing is faster (for some parts),…

13 gaming sessions in, and we have just wrapped up the first chapter of the Age of Ashes. Part of the challenge is of course the overly large group of 10 players, as well as adapting and learning the 2nd edition rules of Pathfinder. With an average of 2 hours of actual “content” each session, that still adds up to about 26 hours of gaming – which is quite a bit compared to prior campaigns. The group advanced from Level 1 starters to Level 5 mid-range adventurers, and have really started to work together as a group. So far, we…

With the new 3d printer, I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to generate routine print timelapses, using Octolapse. I managed to create one or two, but the large majority were suffering from mysterious layer shift issues. Although the print would complete, depending on the model it frequently was unusable – and the timelapse was certainly ugly. In comparison, if I ran the print without using Octolapse, it would run just fine without issues (barring unrelated problems like power outages). I did not really work with Octoprint’s built in timelapse option, since I far prefer Octolapse’s customization options. Recently however, I seem…

Continuing my diorama style thumbnails for the Age of Ashes episodes, highlight some of the terrain and painted figures. Planning on adding a few of the group’s painting efforts, once I can hold on to them post game, but for now it is rather basic. This does however give me the opportunity to continue my own modeling, and more importantly, a deadline for new material every other week.
