• As I mentioned yesterday, we managed to finally wrap up the Rise of the Runelords campaign, with the second of a two part finale. In the first half, the group had believed victory was in their hands, when a contingency Wish spell was activated, rejuvenating and reinforcing Karzoug. We started the session with things looking bad for the bad guys – in the first two actions, Karzoug received 350 HP of damage from the Fighter and Paladin combined, wiping out almost all of his healing. However, the tide quickly turned, when he used a quickened Dimension Door to escape, followed…

  • With this last weekend, we finally reached the conclusion and successful end of our long running Rise of the Runelords Pathfinder campaign. Our campaign began back in June of 2016, and with a bi-weekly schedule, and 10 regular players, we have invested approximately 3300 combined hours in the storyline. Although we started back with the Cypher RPG system, we quickly converted to true Pathfinder, and continued thru. For me, this has been a very major accomplishment – I have been gaming in one form or another since I was 9 (approximately 35 years ago), and until now, have never truly…

  • Seems the timer for my Amazon associates account is winding down. This is an option provided by Amazon, which trades advertising (in the form of associate links) for a small amount of revenue. Basically, if you follow a link from this site, and purchase an item from Amazon, I get a fraction of a penny. There is no cost to you – this is paid for thru Amazon themselves. However, it does require a “qualification” test – basically a trial period where Amazon judges if your site generates enough traffic to meet a minimum requirement (3 sales in 120 days).…

  • With the upcoming conclusion of our Pathfinder game, it is time to consider our next campaign. I have plenty of material for more Pathfinder, that has never been in short supply, but the big driving factor is the upcoming 2nd edition release in August. Due to this, we don’t really want to start another long term campaign (and either cancel or convert later). However, we are also challenged with the size of the group – many game systems simply don’t lend themselves to being taught to 10 players at a given time, or are overly simplistic (leading to my boredom).

  • Living in Ohio, we don’t get much time at the beach, which is part of the attraction of the Atlas game we have been playing. Since every land is an island, there is lots of ocean and beach time. So much so, with the graphics, I can almost smell the salt-water at times. In particular, the sunsets are rather well done, especially when the storms have died down, and the clouds are scattered. The transition to night, although faster than real life, is slow enough to show the color changes and reflections on the water.

  • For the last several weeks, the 3d printer has sat idle and quiet, waiting for the next projects. Some of the reason was that I was a bit overloaded with the rush to finish the Pathfinder boxes (which was nearly so urgent since the game was delayed), but since then, it was just being overly challenging again. As anyone with a 3d printer can attest – printing reliably and consistently is a challenge. I have learned a lot in the last year of efforts and attempts, and I continue to learn. My lesson these week was temperature. I had switched…

  • After many delays, we finally had what we believed to be the final battle with Karzoug. However, with our very large group of 10 players, and the complexity of the game at level 18, it simply did not go fast enough to wrap up in a single session. This was despite adding 2 hours to our normal play time.

  • For the first time ever for myself, we will be heading to Gencon to attend more than just a single day. Scheduling did not permit for the full 4 day event as originally planned, but we did manage to squeeze in plans for 2-days of convention fun. And the plans involved most of the current gaming group, all able to enjoy the time at the convention. At this point, we don’t know what events we will try to participate in (or how that process works), but we have badges and hotel rooms already, so are otherwise set. Worse case, we…
