• Next set of the growing Imperial ground forces for Legion, with a squad of scout troopers (plus upgrades). If they manage to get painted, they will of course use the traditional white on black, though I know in the extended source material, they have branched out into actual camouflaged colors. Continuing to find it challenging to schedule time to actually play, but the bigger concern is that the Rebels are starting to suffer from a lack of options now – compared to the Empire. Might need to start focusing on the other side, if only to balance the scales. Star…

  • Continuing my X-Wing collection, with another edition into the Scum faction. This one is the Fang Fighter, serving a role similar to the X-wing or basic TIE fighters, as a general combat addition. Not sure where this ship appears in the movies, books or other material, but that in itself doesn’t matter to me much. In our particular play style, we allow Scum faction to be used by either Rebel or Imperial, primarily to allow the Falcon or Slave I to be used. Technically, this would fit as well, but there are enough ships options to not really make that…

  • As a commemorative for our successful completion to the long running campaign (assuming the weather and schedules allow for our final session), I have been working on a collectible for each of the players. This is based off a design from Thingiverse for a dice case, which can also store a pencil and have a space for a figure or other small items. However, rather than the flat cover, I embedded the Sihedron Rune into the surface, which works rather well. The pieces are printed on the 3d printer, using a copper/bronze filament, and secured by magnets in each corner.…

  • Another set of the Christmas additions to our Star Wars Legion set, consisting of the Emperor himself, and his Royal Guard. Unlike most of the Imperial forces, these won’t be the routine white on black, though of course I am not sure when I will manage to actually paint them. Worse, it is a challenge just finding the time to play the game, and actually use the figures. But they are still exciting, because they are Star Wars, and Star Wars is cool. 🙂 Star Wars Legion – Emperor Palpatine Star Wars Legion – Imperial Royal Guard

  • It may have been noticed (it has been by me), that my content, for what its worth, has been a bit more spotty recently. I can blame it on numerous reasons – the holidays, work, science fair, etc – but in truth it is mainly due to distractions in the form of video games. Over the holidays, we jumped into the pre-release game Atlas, as a general successor to Ark: Survival Evolved. Although the game mechanics are very similar (survive against the wild), the pirate theme and ship sailing mechanics are very well done. We spend a lot of time…

  • The end is near for our ongoing Rise of the Runelords campaign, and yet, Karzoug continues to reach from his mountain perch and delay the group. In the most recent challenges, he summoned a snow storm that caused the cancellation of our latest game. Originally, we postponed until the following session, but we have several conflicts (and potentially more snow coming), so right now it looks like it will be February 3 before we can wrap up the storyline. I know the group is eager, and I am looking forward to pulling out all the villains tricks.

  • It was a bit of a scramble, but this year’s 8th grade science fair project is complete. Ended up occupying most of the last several days, but as a team effort, it was completed. Report, display, and samples all turned in. And kudos to George from his teacher for picking an original project – none of the typical volcanoes and such for us. The actual fair itself is next week, fingers crossed for how well he can present the material.

  • Good news and bad new with my travel plans – my son informed me today that his Science Fair project was due on Thursday (when we had understood it to be late January or early February). The good news is that I no longer need to travel – the bad news is now we are cramming a science project in over the next couple of days. Fortunately, the experimentation was done a while ago, we just need the observation and data analysis, but still not the way I would have preferred to spend the week.
