Kingmaker, episode 3 – Spider Warren

Continued our Kingmaker campaign on Sunday, with the full crowd this time. Having established themselves at Oleg’s Trading Post, the group started their exploration, and located a giant spider nest nearby. Deciding it was best to investigate and eliminate the threat, they initially were attacked by a single spider – which was defeated rather easily.

A bit overconfident, the war priest and fighter jumped down the hole, tumbling to the bottom deep inside the warren. Rather immediately they were set upon by the rest of the spider’s colony, and quickly overwhelmed. The rest of the group, a bit more cautious and deliberate in climbing down, managed to defeat the spiders, but not before the pair had been fully cocooned and stored away for later feeding. Fortunately though, the poison had only paralyzed them, and they were battered, but otherwise alive.

Searching the warren, the group found little of value – they were just spiders after all. However, behind the scenes, the rogue of the group had managed to pre-search and loot the place of value, while the rest of the group was dealing with the fighter and warpriest. What the rogue did find, although not having much monetary value, did provide further information into the lands and additional quest lines.

The group returned to Oleg’s to re-supply, and plan out their next path, and found more travellers had arrived. The promised reinforcements from the crown had arrived, now set up to garrison the small outpost to protect it from would be threats, and a traveling cleric had arrived to provide occasional magic assistance. Both brought with them additional quest options, to add to the every growing list of the group.

Next the group intends to expand their exploration, and be in the wilderness for several weeks, so they are stocking up on the necessary supplies. In the meantime, we advanced the group to level 2, given their initial adventures.

Side note – it is rather complicated and difficult to quickly and efficiently advance 10+ characters with minimal resources. I use HeroLab to track character details, which works very well, but doesnt allow everyone to advance their character at the same time. HP, Skills, and such are all fairly easy, but when it comes to choosing a Feat or more Spells, it bogs down quite a bit.
