Zombicide – Quest 9 completed

As planned, we tackled Quest 9 (“The Hellhole”) of Zombicide: Black Plague over the weekend. And as before, we started off rough, and then restarted – in this case, the group opened the first door directly into an Abomination. Without any gear or dragon bile, we all agreed to reset and restart. The second attempt was much cleaner – although the beast did appear near the same spot, it was quite a bit later in the game.

For the actual mission, the group took their time, and managed to gear up heavily – the dwarf ending up with both plate mail, a shield, and hammer, while the group gathered several torches and dragon biles, while zombies slowly piled up in the central room.

After many misdirects, the Necromancer finally spawned in the center room, and the group threw open the door. The dwarf tossed the bile and a torch, clearing the packed room, and immediately moved from 0 XP to deep into the Orange.

From there, it was a waiting game – part of the group moved back to the main street and held back the slowly approaching horde, while the rest stayed by the main room to keep it clear. Between the armor, his dwarven ironhide, the shield for a reroll, and a healing spell in the group, the dwarf was nearly invulnerable, and simple stood in the room. The others stood outside the door, ready to throw the last torch, and firing ranged spells into the room.

Eventually, the last needed Necromancer showed up in the correct location, and with a final burst of flame, the mission was won. In the end, the group had managed to loot the entire town (all treasure was searched), and the dwarf had rampaged into the Red XP level, clearing 20+ zombies per turn.

Similar to the previous game, I have recorded the game play thru, and plan to post it this week to the YouTube channel. However, it appears that my memory card in the audio recorder failed and died entirely. Not sure yet if it managed to capture anything, but I should have backup audio from the cameras. The memory card itself is completely dead, and has to be replaced (which is fortunately pretty cheap).
