• Been spending time painting the recently acquired squad of wookies, including Chewbacca. It is rather entertaining, trying to come up with unique styles and patterns for each piece, while still maintaining continuity. Not really sold yet on the blonde wookie – I may have chosen a bit too much yellow in the color. Hopefully this will mellow out a bit with a wash and highlighting, but right now it is fairly strong. For Chewbacca, I started with a Fur Brown coloring, though once it was applied it appears to be a bit more red than it was supposed to be.…

  • My other son, who did play in our first campaign for the duration, is opting to go more Divine instead of martial. In the last campaign, he played Harsk until the dwarf was killed off, and then swapped over to a necromancer-focused Sorcerer. This time, he is opting for Durgham Tess, Elven Warpriest. Similar situation with the figure, he is undecided which one he will ultimately use, though I suspect he will lean towards the male figure. His character is an easy-going free spirit of Cayden Cailean, and although he is not as strong in a fist-fight, his magic and…

  • With our upcoming new season of Pathfinder (campaign still to be decided), I am having all the players create their own characters. Now that they are veterans, they get to make all the decisions that I had previously made on their behalf (mainly due to the size of the group). Our first session, scheduled for this coming Sunday, will be finalizing character choices and at least a short start to the storyline. First up, we have my youngest son Ben, and his choice of a Dwarven Fighter, known to his companions as Pokey Darkstrike. Admittedly Ben is a novice and…

  • Bulking up the Rebel forces a bit further, with the additional of a T-47 Airspeeder (though I know it more as the Snowspeeder from The Empire Strikes Back). I was concerned that the piece would be overly small and out of scale, but it is actually pretty close. Compared to the Wookies, it is of course small, but compared to foot soldiers and storm troopers, it is much more reasonable. Not sure if or when I will get around to painting the piece, but I have left the support pylon detached so that I can spray prime the piece when…

  • Slowly expanding the Star Wars: Legion forces, with additional Rebel Alliance options. This round is the Wookie forces, a combination of the hero piece for Chewbacca, and a set of Wookie Warriors. I am actually rather eager to paint these (though doubtful time will permit), to add to the look of the figures. In the meantime however they will provide some needed melee muscle for the Rebels. • Gearing up for our second major campaign for Pathfinder, now that the Rise of the Runelords has wrapped up. Initially the thought was to try a selection from other games, but the general view of the group was to stick with Pathfinder. I have done some digging thru my back adventurers and options, and have in mind a short term storyline of interconnected adventures. The goal is to fill the gap until August, when the second edition of Pathfinder is released. At that point, we would be starting a long term campaign with the new game, in a campaign still…

  • As I mentioned yesterday, we managed to finally wrap up the Rise of the Runelords campaign, with the second of a two part finale. In the first half, the group had believed victory was in their hands, when a contingency Wish spell was activated, rejuvenating and reinforcing Karzoug. We started the session with things looking bad for the bad guys – in the first two actions, Karzoug received 350 HP of damage from the Fighter and Paladin combined, wiping out almost all of his healing. However, the tide quickly turned, when he used a quickened Dimension Door to escape, followed…

  • With this last weekend, we finally reached the conclusion and successful end of our long running Rise of the Runelords Pathfinder campaign. Our campaign began back in June of 2016, and with a bi-weekly schedule, and 10 regular players, we have invested approximately 3300 combined hours in the storyline. Although we started back with the Cypher RPG system, we quickly converted to true Pathfinder, and continued thru. For me, this has been a very major accomplishment – I have been gaming in one form or another since I was 9 (approximately 35 years ago), and until now, have never truly…
