I have been waffling a lot recently, with an on again, off again theory about changing the company which I work for. For the past many years, the current company has been going thru progressively aggressive cuts and layoffs, which adds to the stress and strain of life. However (thus far), I have been able to dodge or be immune to all the reductions. Unfortunately, it is only a matter of time – either the cuts will hit me, or the company will simply fold up – it is highly unlikely that it will end up recovering to return to…

I always try to do a little extra for the start of a campaign – sometimes I have managed to put together a short video summarizing the history, sometimes I create various props or other items. In the case of our Kingmaker campaign, I opted for the prop approach, not having much time to prepare a full video. To that end, part of the premise of the campaign is the group being granted Royal authority to explore and settle the lands. To this end, they of course require some sort of formal paperwork, so I created a Charter for each…

For our second major Pathfinder campaign, we have selected to run the Kingmaker campaign. This is partially due to the group’s expressed interest in above ground adventuring (compared to interior dungeons), and partly a factor of the time frame we have in mind. As stated previously, we are planning to start a new long term campaign once the 2nd edition of Pathfinder is released, which gives us about 6 months of a campaign. Kingmaker works well for this, since it is much more of a sandbox – there is no definitive end as such for the first few chapters (though…

Other than a coating of protective spray, the wookies are completed, and I am fairly happy with them. The blonde hair turned out better than I had expected, and Chewbacca darkened rather well, compared to his initial rather red look. The one area I am not so happy with is the aged wookie – it was intended to be a bit of grey in the fur, but I think I ended up going a bit overboard. I am not completely happy with it, but didn’t really have a way to fix it, short of going back to the base coat.…

Been spending time painting the recently acquired squad of wookies, including Chewbacca. It is rather entertaining, trying to come up with unique styles and patterns for each piece, while still maintaining continuity. Not really sold yet on the blonde wookie – I may have chosen a bit too much yellow in the color. Hopefully this will mellow out a bit with a wash and highlighting, but right now it is fairly strong. For Chewbacca, I started with a Fur Brown coloring, though once it was applied it appears to be a bit more red than it was supposed to be.…

My other son, who did play in our first campaign for the duration, is opting to go more Divine instead of martial. In the last campaign, he played Harsk until the dwarf was killed off, and then swapped over to a necromancer-focused Sorcerer. This time, he is opting for Durgham Tess, Elven Warpriest. Similar situation with the figure, he is undecided which one he will ultimately use, though I suspect he will lean towards the male figure. His character is an easy-going free spirit of Cayden Cailean, and although he is not as strong in a fist-fight, his magic and…

With our upcoming new season of Pathfinder (campaign still to be decided), I am having all the players create their own characters. Now that they are veterans, they get to make all the decisions that I had previously made on their behalf (mainly due to the size of the group). Our first session, scheduled for this coming Sunday, will be finalizing character choices and at least a short start to the storyline. First up, we have my youngest son Ben, and his choice of a Dwarven Fighter, known to his companions as Pokey Darkstrike. Admittedly Ben is a novice and…
