Pathfinder: Kingmaker

In lighter news, and as an update for our Kingmaker campaign, we managed to continue the clearing of the Kamelands this past weekend. The group, starting from Oleg’s outpost again, had managed some successes in the prior session, and now had some spare cash. As a result, they re-supplied, and opted for horses for the group in order to speed their searching and traveling of the region.

Unfortunately, during the prior session, the Sorcerer had been slain during the battle with the bandits, resulting in the player requiring a new character. Fortunately, a traveler had recently arrived at Oleg’s, a Barbarian seeking adventure himself. With the briefest of introduction, the group had returned to full strength, and the group set forth.

In the course of the next day, they traveled south to the Old Sycamore, which would have previously taken nearly 4 days. There the group discovered signs of combat between Kobolds, and the inhabitants of the tree – believed to be Mites. Once they had located the entrance to the burrows beneath the tree, the group descended, and quickly separated into two separate teams. In one direction, the monk, cleric, paladin, and eventually fighter moved together. In the other, the ranger, druid, wizard, barbarian, inquisitor, and eventually rogue teamed up. As they descended into several chambers, they encounter several groups of hostile mites, reinforced by giant tamed centipedes.

Deep in the warren, the second group discovered and rescued a Kobold prisoner, who was being tortured gleefully by the Mites. With great joy, he introduced himself as Mikmek, true hero and champion of the Kobolds, and sole survivor of a warband sent to the Mite’s tree to recover a stolen religious artifact of “Old Sharptooth”. The group cautiously agreed to aid in this quest, and followed Mikmek further.

Unfortunately, they awoken a gigantic Whiptail Centipede, which hungrily attacked the group (who had hung back as they allowed the Kobold to take the lead). The small band fought hard, and eventually defeated the monster, but not without taking severe injuries. With only limited healing capability (the healers were all with the other group), they were forced to leave the unconscious barbarian behind, while they pushed forward.

Our next game is scheduled for July 14, and then we have our final session for this campaign on July 28. After that, we will be closing this storyline, in favor of Second Edition Pathfinder, and the Age of Ashes storyline (Season 3, August 11).
