• The last few RPG sessions have been rather successful with the use of my growing collection of 3d printed gaming tiles, and the group is really enjoying the addons.  Every game, at least a couple of the players comment about how much it adds to the game, to be able to see the walls and tunnels much clearer, not to mention the small addons and decorations.  As a result, I am working on a new batch of tiles and pieces, expanding the current set.  Fortunately, my collection is a bit more focused – after having built several rooms, I have…

  • The group continues to dig into the sinkhole beneath Sandpoint, starting the session off where we ended previously with a combat with a pair of Glabrezu demons.  Hampered by the ongoing confusion caused by the fog and environment (a magical lingering effect), the group finally managed to come together and face down the creatures.  Damage was brutal, and it was looking bad for the group, but when the paladin activated his Aura of Justice ability the tide shifted quickly.  In the following round, both demons were eliminated with massive damage from the group. Exploring the tunnels further, they found the…

  • This weekend we are continuing the Pathfinder Rise of the Runelords campaign, with the group continuing the fight against the creatures beneath Sandpoint.  We ended the last game session mid-combat, so we will need to get that momentum going again.  Hopefully in the meantime, the group has come up with a plan, and perhaps a way to deal with the confusion-fog that fills the area.

  • Today of course marks the Star Wars-geek holiday of May 4th, with the subtle pun on the well known Star Wars phrase.  Being a die-hard Star Wars fan since a young age, I do enjoy all things Star Wars.  However, I have over the last year or two rapidly developed a bit of ambivalence to the story, suffering from more than a little overload.  Originally, Star Wars and the original trilogy was a simple collection of 3 very good and connected movies – something to share and experience, and expand with your imagination.  Then the prequels came out, to fill…

  • Mentioned previously that I was looking into a dedicated space for our local gaming group, to avoid various other challenges including scheduling conflicts and location availability.  This would also have the advantage of a storage location for my every changing collection.  Unfortunately, I just don’t think that it is a practical solution, at least not with the options I have been considering.  Office space runs about $12 per square foot, so to be able to acquire a decently sized location would run at least $200+ per month.  With our current group size, even splitting the cost, it just isn’t a…

  • Dabbling a bit with making our regular gaming group a more formalized organization, and setting up a membership site.  Haven’t really looking into subscription formats that much or membership dues, and software to manage and maintain, so its a bit of a learning curve for me.  The goal is to set up a system and potentially look at acquiring a dedicated gaming space, but of course there is plenty of obstacles before that point.  However, it would go a long way to stabilizing my various efforts and providing more opportunity for content.

  • This weekend was our latest session of Zombicide: Black Plague, in our continuing effort to complete the initial missions from the book.  In this case, we attempted Quest 4 – Famine, and Quest 5 – The Commandry.  Famine is one we had tried previously, but simply ran out of time.  We attempted it again, but the game ended rather quickly after the group became over confident and left poor Nelly off by her own.  The zombies swarmed and the barmaid died, which lost us the mission.  But after a quick reset, we managed to not only finish that mission, but…

  • Starting to dabble a bit more into 3d printing for fun and profit, with my first commissioned parts for a friend.  My recent successful prints have given me confidence that I know what I am doing, and can repeatedly succeed on the print jobs.  So my first effort is a printed set of parts, for a science experiment, using parts from Thingiverse. Unfortunately, the fickle 3d Printer gods are having fun with me, since as soon as I agreed to take on the job, the printer started to act up.  Since this morning, I have attempted more than a dozen…
