Our group continued the fight against the Scribbler, the chief bad guy of the first part of Chapter 5, who turned out not to be much of a threat – at least not against the overly large player group that we have. Coming back to the battle fresh, the players rather rapidly finished him off, despite an effort to summon demons for assistance (which were also destroyed easily). The various layered abilities of the group, combined with some creativity from the players, and their strength becomes rather overwhelming.

On Friday, the site software notified me of an upgrade to WordPress, moving to 4.9.6, which as usual I installed. As expected, the install was quick and painless, rarely ever any issues. However, with the new update, there is now a new focus on Privacy Policies, no doubt a result of all of the recent events in the news regarding privacy and information gathering. Although this site is entirely informational, and relatively low volume, I do collect some data for the basic operation of the site, and to screen spam and similar activity. As such (and being in a computer…

As I mentioned before, for our Rise of the Runelords Pathfinder game, we are reaching a point in the campaign where the relative “sin” or “virtue” level of each character is becoming relevant. Basically, for the prior game, as they have shown one tendency or another, they have earned a bonus or penalty during the upcoming sessions, based on their further adventures into Runeforge. For example, a character who has been Greedy would experience a bonus in areas associated with Karzoug, the Runelord of Greed, while those who have shown Generosity would experience a penalty.

It seems my experiment with Etsy isn’t working out as well as I had hoped – fundamentally I have not sold pretty much anything as of yet. Perhaps my price point is too high, there is very little interest, I just don’t know what I am doing, or likely, there just isn’t much trust in a new vendor and unreviewed product. The good news is that I have 15 of the squadron plates ready to ship out at a moments notice. The bad news is I have 15 of the squadron plates sitting without an order to be fulfilled. However,…

This Sunday is our next session of Pathfinder, with the group continuing and hopefully finishing the battle in the sinkhole beneath Sandpoint. From there, the adventure continues as the group moves forward with their quest to locate Runeforge. Perhaps the strange riddle they have discovered within the tunnels will point them in a direction, and give some clues.

This last weekend was our scheduled bi-weekly tabletop day, where we routinely play Zombicide, Star Wars Armada, Magic the Gathering or any of a number of other games. Instead, we opted to cancel the games, and instead spend time with our respective Mom’s (or in my case, my wife). As a family, we did end up going to see Infinity War, which wasn’t the wife’s first choice, but the rest of the day was hers to do activities as desired. Overall, it was rather enjoyable, though perhaps the kids were too focused on electronics than on being nice to mom.

Obviously I have missed a post or two recently, as I have been sucked into the world of Conan fairly heavily. The more we play, the more we find details and pieces that are unexpected. Unlike our previous survival game, Ark, this game goes into a lot more detail, especially with regards to the combat mechanics. Most you can just gloss over, but as you get more experienced, the nuances become more apparent. For example, in Ark, you simple walk up and start hitting – location, range, and maneuvering (other than to dodge a dino attack) is pretty irrelevant. In…

As our interest fades on Ark: Survival, we have converted over to the newly released Conan Exiles. Still a survival game, but a much different world. Gone are the dinosaurs, and now there are various tribes that fight against your growth to eventually conquering the world. The interesting challenge is the subject matter, in comparison to our kids, who of course are eager to play. The world of Conan is a rather adult one, and the game holds true to that. Fortunately, much of the problem areas can be tweaked in the server settings, eliminating nudity and some of the…
