The group has engaged the enemy, by bringing the fight directly to Karzoug, in his citadel high a top Mhar Massif. This is the final challenge of the campaign – penetrate the tower, and bring an end to the threat of Karzoug and the Runelords. The group seems rather eager, and well prepared – they are finally level 17 (will be 18 at the final battle), but the city of giants and threats below has been mobilized to stop the attack, and the tower is populated with Karzoug’s most trusted and strongest allies. For the group, the challenge is to…

Making a return to a game that I have played off and on, with a bit of renewed interest. Fortunately, Elite is a bit older now, and my graphics card, though dated, can run the game very well on Ultra. Teamed up with my son, and potentially soon my other son, we are exploring the universe, fighting pirates, and mining precious metals. Here is a simple screenshot from the rings of Kremainn 2, in the Kremainn system, as the sun slowly rises from behind the planet. Been thinking I might stream a bit of our story, but first I need…

Another work trip to Toledo, and finally back again. Always seems to waste a lot of my free time driving back and forth, but it is a frequent requirement with my work (the account is very traditional, and likes face-to-face meetings with the support team). Fortunately the drive itself is normally not that bad, although with winter, there was some snow this round, and more than a few accidents. Most likely, I will end up halting the travel for a bit, to avoid the worst of the weather, and then resume again once it starts to warm up again –…

I am thinking it may be time to re-tune the basic extrusion details within my printer. Although the printing is running well, and very reliably, I have been having challenges with filament tracking and estimates. Using the FilamentManager Plugin for Octoprint, I can enter a spool of 1000 grams, but according to the numbers, I end up with about 1200 grams before I actually run out of material. This makes it rather difficult to clearly identify if I have enough material for a larger job or not. The print quality is fine, from what I can tell, but I do…

This last Sunday, we managed to play some more Zombicide: Black Plague, and wrapped up missions 6 and most of 7. Mission 6 was won in the first attempt, despite our lack of game time recently, everyone was working well together and the zombies could not catch up – though it did get a bit dicey near the end. Mission 7 was more problematic – we ended up running out of time, and were unable to finish. However, due to the request of the players, we attempted to photograph as much as possible so that we could resume in the…

We had a fun tournament, with quite a few players for our annual tournament. Ended up with fewer players than last year, apparently several felt pre-cooking for Thanksgiving was a higher priority, and some of last years players were out of town. But those that did show up had a lot of fun, and we ended up playing several rounds. Format was a double-elimination bracket setup, which did end up being a bit complex once we got started (I was using cards to sort everyone, and started getting confused about half-way thru). Everyone was friendly and social though, so it…

We had our Pathfinder session this last weekend, and after nearly 3 years, the group has finally arrived at the pinnacle of Mhar Massif, to face off against the elite agents of the enemy, and face the Runelord Karzoug himself. This starts the endgame of the campaign, which optimistically I am expecting to finish off in the next several sessions, potentially by the end of the year. Hopefully, all players can be present with the holidays – our schedule fortunately avoids most of the major conflicts. If they end up going slow, then it may stretch into January or even…

Wrapped up and finished the first place trophy for our upcoming tournament, by adding the final details. Likely will still add a coating of sealant, just to help protect it a bit, but it is otherwise complete. Overall, I am happy with the results, and the design works well. I may adjust it a bit next year, and try to get the print lines a bit more smooth, but for a hand-made trophy it turned out very nice. Hopefully the winner of the competition will enjoy it as well. This was printed many months ago using Hatchbox Gray PLA, then…
