Last week was a challenging week for my routine schedule for several factors. Intentionally, and planned for a long time, was that I was attending Scouting Camp with my son’s, with limited access to a computer or the internet. A second Father’s Day acquisition, the family supplied me with the Princess Leia mini for Star Wars: Legion. This is good, since the collection has been heavily favoring the Empire recently and the Rebels really needed some reinforcements. Leia is of course a welcome addition, though admittedly the model is not the best. The face just doesn’t feel accurate, and the joints for the arms don’t match up completely. Some of the assembly may be my challenges with such small pieces, but other Fantasy Flight figures were far cleaner. Perhaps with a bit of green stuff, it could be cleaned…

Finally managed to get the trophy for this year’s Magic: The Gathering tournament to print properly. Previously, I had broken the model into 4 separate pieces, in order to minimize the printing challenge. Although it printed well, this also meant there were several very noticeable seams in the final assembly. This year, with some more experience and some fine tuning of the printer, I opted to re-slice the model and print as a pair of pieces instead. If you look very carefully, you can see the seam where the two pieces mate, but it is rather well hidden. More importantly,…

With the recent Father’s Day, my kids and family helped me expand the slowly growing Star Wars: Legion collection with a few of the heroes and villains. The first one is Boba Fett, feared bounty hunter, and addon for the Empire’s side. The model is nice, though perhaps a bit finicky – there are a lot of very tiny pieces for my large fingers to have to glue together. Over this last weekend, there was a bit of a world-shattering event on the Atlas game server we play on – due to a previously unknown bug, all player data was corrupted and lost. Despite a long weekend of troubleshooting with Grapeshot and G-Portal, the admins who ran the server set were forced to give up and perform a full world reset and wipe. This was painful, since it was not only the second time in a couple of months (the first time shortly after we started, so not a big impact to us), but it was immediately after we…

In preparation for Season 3 of our Pathfinder campaigns, scheduled to start early in August with the release of the Second edition Pathfinder rules and the Age of Ashes adventure path, I have been working to re-evaluate and redesign my podcast capabilities. Apparently the terminology for this is now an “Active Play” podcast – a podcast which records and broadcast the active RPG session. It can be done live, or pre-recorded. I am most definitely going with pre-recorded, live is just far too complex for a single person to manage in real time, while also running a game session.

Starting the preparations for the annual Magic: The Gathering Tournament we hold everything Thanksgiving. With our most recent session, the group continued their exploration of the Kamelands, and managed a bit of success. We first concluded the battle against the bandit camp – unfortunately the Sorcerer was lost when the group was unable to stop his slaying after the group as a whole decided against surrendering. However, that provided them the motivation to emerge victorious against the bandits as a whole, ultimately winning the battle. With the surviving bandits in tow, they returned to Oleg’s outpost to claim their rewards and sell of their winnings. Mysteriously though, during the journey, someone or something crept…
