Star Wars: X-Wing

Had another chance to play some more X-Wing, or at least host the game (my son and one of our other gamers actually played). The battle was a straightforward 200 vs 200, with Scum vs Empire.

On the Empire side, the squadron was Darth Vader and a TIE Advanced, supported by 4 TIE fighters (most with named pilots). For the Scum, we had Boba Fett in a generic Firespray, a Fang Fighter with Fenn Rau, and a basic Mining Guild TIE.

The battle started off very basic – both sides of course lined up face to face. The TIE fighters managed a tight formation on the initial pass, but couldn’t connect with the Fang fighter, while the mining guild TIE dodged past Vader. Boba Fett swooped past the main fight from the flank, though wasn’t able to engage solidly.

As the furball continued, the close formation of the TIE causes issues, resulting in several bumps when they tried to loop around. The Scum managed a few more hits, and finished off one of the named Imperial pilots. The Academy Pilot managed to finish himself off with his badly damaged fighter striking an asteroid. Meanwhile, the combined fire of the TIE fighters, and a cluster missile volley from Vader ended the Fang Fighter.

Boba continued to circle the field, unable to get into a good position to drop his Seismic Charges, and watched the mining guild TIE go away in a blast of fire. From there, Vader and the two remaining TIEs, all practically undamaged, had a superior position directly behind the Firespray. It was only a matter of time at that point before the game ended in an Empire victory.
