• Thanks to recent holidays and major events, we have adjusted our gaming schedule somewhat. We are still continuing the Kingmaker campaign, though with the current count we have 6 available games until the August Gencon, where we will likely be switching to the Age of Ashes campaign using second edition Pathfinder Currently, we are alternating weekends, and playing on 5/19 and 6/2, then back to the regular bi-weekly schedule on 6/9. In between, I have the wife’s birthday and Memorial day, but I am hoping to squeeze in some alternate games, perhaps Zombicide or X-Wing Although entertaining the idea of…

  • I have been pondering the use of content ratings for gaming sessions recently, a system which I have informally used to define the “adultness” of whatever game I run or participate in. As a Dad, introducing my kids to the game, it is important to me, and serves as a decent means of communicating to new players what to expect.

  • This coming weekend is the finale of the Game of Thrones series. We have been devoted fans since the original episode, and have dutifully followed the story every week it has aired. And I have to say I am rather ready for it to be over. I have not read the books, though the wife has, and I have no real interest (or time) to read the books. Supposedly they fill in a lot more of the backstory, at least to the point were George R. R. Martin has published. And that is great, if you are interested in the…

  • Been being challenged to post regularly again recently thanks to distractions (most notably self-caused). Fundamentally, been spending too much time either working, or playing Atlas, both of which are difficult to pull away from (for different reasons). Schedule right now is in a bit of a rough spot, between holidays, birthdays, and end of school events. As a result, our normal Pathfinder schedule is going to be hit and miss, and I will try to get some X-Wing, Legion, or Zombicide squeezed in. Mother’s Day is this Sunday however, and the wife’s birthday is coming up in a couple of…

  • As we continue our adventures in the Atlas online game, the server we currently play on suffered a catastrophic outage. In the process of updating maps and islands, the entire save file was corrupted, meaning it was effectively an unexpected progress wipe. Not really a big deal, gave us a chance to clean out the inventory and start fresh. And with the temporarily boosted xp and harvesting, after only a couple of days we were back to our prior level. Ships may be a bit less numerous, but hardly notice the loss of everything else. In the meantime, the server…

  • For our upcoming Pathfinder 2 campaign, we are going to be running the soon-to-be-published Age of Ashes campaign from Paizo. With this campaign, I am going to make the attempt to restart my video logs of the game sessions, and hopefully improve the end result a bit from various lessons I have learned from previous attempts. To that end, I am starting to work on collecting and assembling graphics, art, and my thoughts, to try to streamline the process as much as possible. Ideally, most of the cosmetic pieces will be pre-built, and I can focus on the editing of…

  • In our latest episode, the group continued their exploration of the Kamelands, branching further away from Oleg’s Trading Post. With several missions and quests in hand, the group is a bit fragmented, but rapidly getting organized. As a change for this campaign, I am requiring all the players to track their own gear. In the prior storyline, given their newness to RPGs and the number of players, it was just easier for me to either track the details, and/or gloss over much of the mundane pieces. Now that they are veterans, and partially due to the nature of the Kingmaker…

  • Ended up not posting at all last week, thanks to a Spring Break for the family. Officially it was just the kids and spring break from school, but I opted to take the week for a vacation from work as well. Had some good times with the family – we spent the early part of the week working on the backyard in preparation for hopefully selling the house. Did not get quite as far as intended, thanks to rain later in the week. Also managed to relax playing a lot of Atlas with the family and Division 2 with the…
