It admittedly has now been several weeks since my last update – all thanks to an overly busy work schedule, ongoing life scheduling, and challenges with our new home and relocation. Work continues to be crazy, with the overall new support contract and migration of the client’s environment. This was scheduled to be completed at the beginning of September – more likely it will run until December. General life events continue to be Covid based – adjusting various schedules around sporting events, after school activities, and school day schedules. The kids manage to do most of their work in another…

Another week, and more updates on the house build and future “super basement” (per the kids). At this point, we have a foundation. The inspectors will be out this week to certify all the necessary parts, then there is waterproofing of the foundation and backfilling of the soil. From there, the floor of the basement goes in and the framing begins. Framing should not be delayed – they have already delivered those materials and they are standing by next to the construction site. Still aiming for mid-October, based on the project manager’s feedback, so I expect a lot of change…

Been pondering options for a sci-fi campaign, now that our Starfinder game has been closed down. Admittedly, I was not a big fan of the Starfinder system (it felt a bit forced for the intent), but I am always a fan of science fiction. The general setting was solid enough, though perhaps a bit too similar to traditional fantasy Pathfinder (which I know is intentional). But it got me thinking of other alternatives that would work well, which ended up with me landing on Shadowrun. As a cyberpunk game, Shadowrun is one I have always liked – it has the…

I haven’t posted in a while about our ongoing (and still active) Pathfinder campaigns, primarily due to our move and the discontinuing of the video archive. Both adventure paths are still active and alive, despite being entirely virtual these days – a state we are hoping to change once the new house is done. For our Sunday Age of Ashes campaign, the group has moved on to Chapter 3, and are fighting slavers in the service of the Scarlet Triad. The group has fought several running battles with the enemy forces which have besieged the town of Cypress Point. At…

Continuing the Star Wars Legion theme, I have the first of several future Stormtroopers, assembled and painted by my son and newest adept. He has done some painting here and there over the last couple of years, but only recently has really had a lot of desire. With our current home transition, I opted to get him a starter set, some brushes, and turn him loose on the Empire. For a first attempt, these turned out pretty good, and certainly will work well for gaming. The paint options are fairly limited, but these are of course white with some black…

Second of my recent painting spurt, this time Rebel Taun Tauns. Again, the painting color options were rather limited to just a starter set, so the details got a bit muddy. I was also going for less of a wintry design, with a basic concept that Taun Tauns might be transplanted to a non-Hoth world. The final colors worked well, I was happy with the beasts themselves, though the riders became a bit rough and one-tone. It isnt really noticeable unless you look closely, but apparently one of the Taun Taun’s arms came loose during the gluing, leaving the shoulders…

Been doing some painting with my son, assembling and applying some paint to various Star Wars Legion figures. This is made easy given our temporary freedom between homes, though my gear options are limited. At the start, we picked up a basic painting starter set for George, so that he could dive in and start the painting hobby himself. Then I decided to contribute as well, and my own model sets. First up is a Dewback, equipped with two stormtrooper options. The final trooper body is loose, so that they can be assembled a bit at the start of a…

Brief update on the house build – holes have been dug. The construction did apparently encounter some sort of soil concern, which required an additional review by the engineer and a bit deeper of a dig for the footing, but as of yesterday that has been cleared. As shown, the form of the basement is laid out, with the start of the foundation framing. In addition, the utility box which was incorrectly placed in the middle of our planned driveway has now been moved by the vendor, and is no longer a concern. Next step is the concrete pour for…
