Our long running Pathfinder 2e campaign is just about to wrap up, we have perhaps 1 more session before the final big climax battle. This group was formed way back in 2021, and the group has steadily worked their way thru the storyline. Some characters have been lost, but a few are still the originals from way back at the start of the circus. As is my tradition, for any groups who can complete a full adventure path, I provide a momento of the adventure. Something customized to the group and storyline, but ideally still somewhat practical. Although we play…

As we expand our Star Wars Legion games, and look into a few other game systems, I got inspired to create a swamp terrain board. This was heavily inspired by Black Magic Craft on YouTube, in which a similar technique is used to make roads. In my case, I reversed the negative space, and instead created cutout pools. When the terrain is layed on our existing forest gaming mat, the effect is a fairly good “green algae” pool swamp. With a bit of scatter terrain, it is a very nice setup. The entire base is a single large piece of…

Going to be heading for a bit this weekend and attending the family day at Gencon 2023 in Indianapolis, Indiana. It has been several years since we have gone, what with pandemics and schedules, so it will be nice to go again. Sadly, schedules and budgets restricted us to only a single day, so we will have to take in all the events and sales floor in that limited time. As a result, there is no Carrion Crown session this week, though the rest of our publishing will continue unimpeded. I had thought to wear a hat or a shirt…

This past weekend, one of our players attended a local tournament, and offered to spread the word of our channel and efforts. With appreciation, I engraved a set of order tokens for him, using our Logo for the back image, and the unit type for the front image. These worked well, and it had a few other players interested, but we didn’t actually have anything to give away. A bit of brainstorming later, and I have settled on “line of sight” indicators as a give-away. These are simply to create, inexpensive to produce, and useful for all players. As a…

As mentioned earlier this week, the latest battle report (available HERE) is the start of our Battle for the Golden Vader tournament. I crafted a small traveling trophy, which will be held by the victor in this and future tournaments, with a label recording the past victors. Yes, that is an official Darth Vader (Dark Lord of the Sith) figure, painted in gold and perched on a basic 3d printed stand. I had an extra copy of the model, so figured it was a good use. Each week, we will update the standing with the results, likely on Friday after…

I have finalized my design for a paint rack, and have been actively cutting the parts. The overall design is large, but is mainly so that I can hold all the various paints I have collected. Cut from 3mm plywood, the assembly is fairly fast and easy, and the structure is surprisingly solid once together. Initially I was using wood glue, but with the suggestion of the wife, switched to hot glue instead – making it much easier to assemble. The current design holds 63 dropper style bottles, or 45 Citadel pots, and can be easily adjusted to fit other…

I expect it is a common issue for gaming groups, but with our Legion games, we have become rather competitive. Adding this to the large group that we have, and more than a few passionate players, can lead to a rather heated session. Since we publish our games, it adds in the complexity of having additional participants, all of which want to help or mitigate, and adds extra finicky process to the game sequence. After this last session however, we ended up developing a number of basic guidelines for our crew, to hopefully keep the games fair, minimize interference, and…

Battle 48 is posting this Friday, kicking off our Battle for the Golden Vader tournament. Eight players in our group, competing in a double-elimination tournament, for the bragging rights and ownership of a traveling trophy. We are looking for viewer feedback specifically to help resolve ties. Instead of the usual mechanic of going to points, if and when there is a tie in a given battle, we will rely on the viewers to identify any mechanics errors. Assuming they are reported in the YouTube comments, and valid faults, the side with the least number of errors after a week will…
