So, I had the intent during our recent project to film the entire effort, and then provide a time lapse video of the entire process. Â The good news is that I collected a lot of footage, on the order of 100 GB of 720p video using my recently acquired camera. Â The bad news is that the content is rather boring (even at high speed), and I did not take into account a number of basic issues. Â Most notably is my clothing. Â Although I can gloss over any self-confidence or body-image issues (I am not a model), I definitely need to…

Missed my post yesterday, because I very simply was too tired, sore, and distracted to do so. Â This weekend was our long planned kitchen remodel, in which we planned to replace the rest of the cabinets, fix a number of electrical concerns, and repaint the kitchen. Â The theory was a 2 day project, which I knew was very optimistic, but I as always underestimated the level of physical effort. Â We are not quite done, still a number of cosmetic additions to finish, but overall the kitchen is looking much better.

No update this weekend for the Pathfinder game (we are about to start Chapter 3 of Rise of the Runelords), due to our efforts with the kitchen. Â The next scheduled game is set for March 26 at 2 PM, where I hope to potentially be able to stream the session, but will definitely be able to capture a video of the game board and audio from the session. This coming weekend I have our alternative group, with our long-standing group, continuing the other Pathfinder campaign (WWII soldiers lost in time in a Pathfinder-setting). Sometime in between, I owe George a…

So I received the video camera I had ordered a few days ago – if you recall, this was a bargain basement option, to provide the basic ability to video gaming, crafting, and other activities. Â As such, I ordered the cheapest camcorder I could locate on Amazon, while still hoping to meet the various needs, the Seree HDV-515.

When you game, assuming you use a battlemat or tile system, how do you typically handle trees when the group is adventuring in a forest? Â In my case, on a blank battlemat, I either draw a rough line to indicate the edge of the forest and define one side as clear, and the other as difficult, or simply declare the entire map forest. Â I used to try to draw out the trees themselves, either with rough circles for the branch limits, or with large dots for the space of the trunks. Â In general though, neither method really worked – it…

After my post yesterday, I ended up spending a significant amount of time researching video editing software. Â Certainly if I am going to start filming activities, projects, and games, I will need a means to efficiently process and edit, and post them for viewing. Â Of course, since my website receives practically no traffic, I also don’t have a budget for any of the expensive but more common tools.

Been wanting to resume streaming and YouTube videos, specific to gaming activities, wood crafting, and other miscellaneous projects.  I actually have a small number of existing videos, from the time frame of my prior website presence, but have not had the opportunity or means to create additional content.  Almost all of my gaming these days is live rather than computer based, so I need a camera to record the action.  I tried with my phone, as is fairly common these days, but unfortunately I don’t have enough storage capacity to make that a viable option. It was a fun filled weekend, as is common with my Dad’s visit. Â However, due to the compressed schedule, I need a bit of time to recover. Â My dad typically arrives late on Thursday, and stays until Sunday, during which time we try to pack in as many activities and events as possible, including swimming, food, and visiting. Â By the end of the weekend, everyone is tired and ready for a rest. Â This weekend, we added a trip to the local arcade and a bowling birthday party for Ben, which made it that much busier, along with basketball games and…
