Unfortunately, there is not going to be a new Star Wars Armada battle report this week, my son is off with the Boy Scouts enjoying some river rafting. Instead, my hope is to work on version 2 of the pencil box, this time with some quality wood (thinking Mahogany). Still pondering how I would do so, but I am planning on trying to film the process, and eventually edit it down to a short wood working video. A lot of unknowns involved in that process, not the least of which is my potential inability to craft any final product worthy…

In preparation for the next Pathfinder session, I left the group with the task of coming up with their battle plans for Fort Rannick. If you haven’t caught up on the storyline, reference the latest chapter of the YouTube chronicle. This is the first time many of the group have even considered such a level of planning, since almost all are very new to roleplaying in general, and Pathfinder specifically. And to my knowledge, none have tactical military knowledge. Given their past creativity, I am eager to see what ideas they come up with to even the odds against the…

Another round of the Pathfinder campaign, continuing Chapter 3 of the Rise of the Runelords this time. The group of 10 adventurers are still at level 7, but after their success in the second chapter, managed to gather a small number of magical items to assist with their questing, and have begun to explore the regions around Turtleback Ferry. This session was unfortunately unable to be attended by 3 of the characters (cleric, wizard, and paladin), which challenged the rest of the team with the reduction in healing ability. If you like this content, please take a moment to like…

By request of the wife, I spent some time on Saturday, while I was still recovering a bit from the illness, and finished up a project for my son’s school art class. We had promised to create and deliver a number of basic chipboard easels, so that the teacher didn’t need to continue using cardboard each time. The materials had been sitting around for a week or two waiting on a bit of motivation and some nice weather to get finished, so I managed to knock those out pretty quickly. With the scrap material, my wife asked for a pencil art…

Not much of an update today, I am dealing with a sinus infection that is kicking my butt. Haven’t been able to concentrate on much more than breathing and occasionally eating. Upcoming this weekend, we have our next session of Pathfinder, and next week likely will do some additional Armada. The YouTube videos are doing passably, though of course I do not have the following I hope to have eventually. If you haven’t visited, drop by YouTube to subscribe and hopefully like a few of the videos.

I continue to study and learn the details of the Davinci Resolve software, so that I can better edit and adjust videos. It may or may not be visible in the last couple of postings, but each time, the quality improves incrementally. Certainly there is a lot I still don’t understand, but each day I learn a little bit more. Today, the focus was on streamlining the editing process, specifically around a consistent intro and exit to each video. Not being familiar with Resolve, it takes a bit of learning, especially since it isn’t very intuitive as to how to…

Another Star Wars Armada fleet engagement video was posted, this time with the mission, Advanced Gunnery. One small mistake in the fleets, we realized shortly after the start that Minister Tua was a waste of points in the configuration, so the Empire really only had 395 pts for the game. Of particular note in the game was the valiant distraction effort by Princess Leia on Tantive IV, though it ultimately led to her sacrifice.

Played another game of Armada with George on Friday (video will be posted likely in a few days), using my same fleet makeup for the Rebellion as before. George altered his fleet, to include the massive Imperial Star Destroyer, two small destroyers, and only a small number of squadrons. The game was hard fought, but turned into a rather decisive victory in the end, despite several valiant sacrifices. I won’t spoil the results here yet however. Of particular note, the video should have significantly improved audio this time, thanks to the acquisition of a Zoom H1 audio recorder. The previously…
