Been slowly bulking up my X-Wing forces as well, with the addition of two new figures. First is the TIE Advanced, so that we can properly use Darth Vader (or one of those other pilots no one thinks about). This model of course will be intimidating, only because it is Vader, and we can now cleanly match him up with Luke on the Rebel side. The second model is the BTL-A4 Y-Wing, a bomber and turreted figure, and one I have been eager to try out. X-Wings of course make up the bulk of our fledgling X-Wing squadrons, but I…

Expanded the Imperial forces a bit over the weekend, acquiring the AT-ST for Star Wars: Legion. Admittedly, it is a model I would be happy collecting, regardless of if we played the game. But Ben was very eager to add it to his forces as well, and continues to be eager to play some more. Pictured with an unpainted stormtrooper for scale, it is larger than I would have expected. Even nicer, most of the joints are loose and unglued – the tolerance on the mold is pretty good, meaning that it remains an adjustable figure. I may end up…

The replacement fan arrived on time, was a simple install, and quite happily appears to have solved my latest issues. Heat creep no longer appears to be a problem – the extruder motor is comfortably cool, and after a quick re-leveling of the bed, the printer is functional again. I am re-running a larger print which has been on hold, to continue to expand my paint storage, and fingers are crossed that it will complete successfully sometime early this morning. To be cautious, I did run a calibration test, which allowed for plenty of heat up time, just to be…

At the end of the prior session, the group had been attacked by a Wendigo, and faced off with a pair of cursed undead brothers, fighting each other in a supernatural war of dominance. This session started with the conclusion of that conflict, which was looking rather touch and go. The ghosts, each fighting for control, struggled with minimal participation of the group – the dark cursed side slowly winning. Fortunately the Necromancer utilizing some of his control over undead worked to bolster the good side, delaying the resolution. Meanwhile, the rest of the group left the safety of the…

Spent the weekend working on a project for the living room, crafting a coffee table and crafting workstation for the wife. Definitely not heirloom quality furniture, but functional and very sturdy. It still needs a bit more work – the top needs to be sanded, painted and actually attached, but it is otherwise complete. Total project time was about 6 hours, plus numerous hours hauling tools in and out, setting up and tearing down my workspace. Unfortunately, since I have no workshop, the tools are stored elsewhere in a locker, and my work space is outdoors. Both tend to severely…

As I have been getting further and further into 3d printing, I have been experimenting with a number of different colors and brands of filament. In general, I have not found much significant different in quality for PLA between options, but for consistency, I have been tending towards the same ones each time. If curious, here is the options I currently use or have used, and my thoughts.
