Appears our challenges with our secondary campaign are continuing, as we had to cancel another game of Shadowrun. This time it was football again, they scheduled our games this week on Sundays, and there just was not enough availability on Friday or Saturday. Feedback is the campaign is enjoyable, and there continues to be interest, but I am struggling to validate that it is worth the effort. We have played a total of 2 game sessions in several months, so I am not sure if it is a viable schedule, at least for this time of year.

Had a number of recent projects this week that have been working the printer quite a bit. Not only am I working on my first printing and painting video, but I have been collecting a number of time lapse videos for other projects. The wife also tasked me with me with making a Boy Scout gift/collectable, following our recent Court of Honor. This involved designing from scratch, printing numerous copies, and acquiring a new color for my filament collection. Hopefully, it will work out in time for the next meeting on October 3. While I wait for the filament to…

After reviewing a number of tutorials on YouTube video creation, I ended up ordering an Amazon branded microphone stand, as an impromptu camera stand. This is a cheap option, and my concern was its ability to support and handle the weight of a camera. It arrived, and after some testing, I am rather happy with the results. By adding a couple of adapters, it holds both my phone as well as my much more bulky camcorder without issue, and without falling over. It is a bit shaky if it is touched, the thin pole tends to wave back and forth,…

In our latest session, the group continued the mystery of the dwarven Vekker brothers, and what fate they found some 70 years prior in the mountains. Previously, they had discovered the lost mining base station, which was inhabited by ghosts and spirits, and had fallen into the hunting ground of a wendigo. This time, with some creative uses of spells, they managed to get enough information to track down the body of one of the brothers, upon the request of the spirit of the other brother. Long ago, the dwarves had given in to cannibalism, and had fell to the…

Still struggling to find a format for the creation of YouTube content, after numerous challenges and setbacks. I have found that game play videos are simply too long and involved to make good content – they are rather dull to watch, take forever to edit down, and I don’t have the gear to make them with any real quality. I have been tasked with recording my son’s football games each week, which gives me several opportunities to try out different ideas. However, due to various concerns around child safety and the sharing of the “secret” plays of the team, I…

Decided to test the limits of the printer, and attempt to print a custom gaming miniature. In this case, it is a paladin, wielding a sword and beer. Resolution was set for 0.1mm, and there was a lot of support material, but overall I am happy with the quality. The picture certainly highlights the roughness of the piece – there are a lot of visible texture, and I didn’t completely clean off the supports. But from normal table distance, the piece reads rather well. And with a coat of paint, I would consider it a low quality but certainly workable…

A second print for terrain for Star Wars: Legion, this was a long one coming in at 27 hours with a resolution of 0.15mm. Model is by SableBadger, hosted on Thingiverse at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2894409, specifically model #3. As before, pictured with a Pathfinder figure for scale. The print turned out very nice, though there was a lot of support material to remove – much of which was hidden in the small crevices. End up breaking off one of the pipes in the model, but that was easily fixed with some super glue.

Taking advantage of my recently leveled printer bed to print out some terrain pieces for use in Star Wars: Legion. First up in a power generator, using the design by Sablebadger on Thingiverse. This is printed in my normal grey PLA, with a 0.15 mm layer height and 10% infill. I didn’t have any stormtroopers handy, so a Pathfinder figure is standing in for a rough scale.
