• During our recent group painting session, I tackled a few of the resin giant rat figures I had printed, in preparation for use during one of our various games. These had been in my box for several weeks, but I figured it was a good time to try the results of some more Contrast Paints from Citadel. And in truth, the skeletons which I had planned on painting had not yet been primed, so they were my next best option. Overall, very happy with the results. These literally only required about 10 minutes of painting – two colors for the…

  • Opting to try another technology test and fully stream out Extinction Curse campaign. Using the Pathfinder 2e rules, this is a campaign that we have been running for a while – the group is midway thru Chapter 3. The goal here is really to focus on the technology, and make sure it all works – decent quality, solid sound, steady streaming. This will be a non-interactive stream – chat will be enabled, but I am fairly sure I wont be watching it. I encourage anyone interested to connect and check it out – leave me a comment on the stream…

  • Part of the challenge I have given all of the players for our upcoming campaign is to provide a painted, character appropriate miniature, and to consider their particular relationship to the initiator NPC of the campaign, Professor Petros Lorrimor. For this background, they can simply know their story, or optionally, provide a written background. I have been rather curious not only to see all the characters, but to understand how their particular hero fits into the world – a GM of the story can only be so creative. For those willing, I am going to post their backgrounds for public…

  • With my professional life in IT support, I have a desire to test and verify all technology, especially when it is new – or at least a new process. To that end, I am planning on scheduling a pre-campaign live stream to test the configuration, tools, and options. Consider it a Session 0 for the campaign, but it is also a decent time for any (albeit small) audience to interact and provide feedback. I doubt there will be any real content, except for audio testing and such. I ran a similar test previously, but the connection was set for Twitch…

  • After many weeks of planning, we finally held our big summer Twilight Imperium game session – a two day boardgame bonanza. Twilight Imperium (TI4) is something I have had on my shelf for a couple of years, but had only had the opportunity to play once, and then only partially. I had always wanted to get a group together to play a full game, with enough time to finish the game entirely. However, it is a game that is rumored to take all day, or multiple days. With the house, and a dedicated game space, the planets had finally aligned…

  • One of our characters for the new campaign is opting to play a Catfolk Witch, a new combination allowed for this campaign. Not only is the Witch newer, I have also allowed for the option of some of the expanded ancestries. Catfolk seems to be a rather popular choice. The player designed the figure in HeroForge, and then I printed a resin model. By request, I am also creating 350% scale versions for display models. For the large scale figure, some liberties were taken simply from a scaling standpoint, depending on design some of the figures where rather challenging to…

  • In preparation for the upcoming campaign, I have tasked the players with creating or locating a figure, and painting it to match their concept. On my end, I have been collecting a number of models for use for the creatures and NPCs. Some are working, others are still a work in progress. However, given the setting of the Carrion Crown, I have been using my translucent green resin to print out quite a bit of supernatural and/or undead ghosts and wraiths. These are models from TytanTroll Miniatures, to which I subscribe on Patreon. To finish the ghostly figures, I am…

  • I have been having a number of challenges with my 3d printer, specifically the Prusa i3MK3s. At this point, it is I believe 30+ months old, and has been running nearly constantly, so I cant say that it has not been reliable. In fact, it has been for the most part rock solid, and very consistent. However, with age, comes challenges. So I figured I would list out a few of my more recent lessons learned, in the hopes that someone else may benefit. These are specific to FDM printers, but obviously are brand specific – your mileage may vary…
