• Another successful gaming session with our large group, with the start of the assault on Fort Rannick.  In the last session, the group had arrived to find that the fort had been overrun by a large clan of Ogres.  Working with the last survivor of the Black Arrows ranger troop, who had been managing the castle, the group was coming up with various plans to strike back, defeat the ogres, and hopefully eliminate their threat.  This game was the first phase of that attempt, which went surprisingly well for the group, despite their best efforts. As before, I have recorded…

  • So, if you have been a long time follower of my website efforts (which would surprise me if there is anyone), you may have noticed that my ability to routinely and regularly post a daily update has improved with this most recent iteration.  Previously, I would post something every day, but then after a few days or weeks, I would get distracted and the activity would drop off.  After a few months, I would either restart the website, or perhaps restart posting, or in some cases simply never repost.  In comparison, this new site has been going strong now for…

  • Its been a while since I posted a copy of the current characters for our existing Pathfinder Rise of the Runelords campaign, so I wanted to provide an update.  In truth, my previous post may not have survived the original website outage back in January/February, so this may end up being the first such posting.

  • I continue to slowly expand my Star Wars Armada collection, adding a single set of each of the various ships at a slow but steady pace.  Since I need to outfit both Rebels and Empire, I try to keep both sides roughly equal by adding equivalent ships each time. This most recent adds are the Rebel Transports and the Imperial Assault Carriers, a pair of Flotilla class Capital Ships.  Individually, they are very weak (but cheap), but they bring a large number of support abilities and tactics to the fleet.  In addition, they provide a cheap way to bulk out…

  • Since I have been attempting to film various activities over the last few weeks, I have started to notice that the interest level and opportunities for filming are actually becoming more common.  It is almost as if having used the process, I am more in tune with it, and are seeing more options.  But more so, friends and family are considering it as well, though they limit themselves to the idea, without the actual activity (still camera shy). A case in point was this last Sunday, in which for Easter we spent time with the inlaws.  During the course, we…

  • Successful woodworking project over the weekend, crafting version 2 of the art pencil box for the wife.  This time, the construction was 100% Purpleheart, a far more exotic wood than the basic plywood and chipboard of the original.  In particular, I was challenged by a lack of jointer and planer, which made the panel glue-ups problematic, but I managed to make it work.  I also had some difficulty in cutting the internal slots for the dividers, my various solutions with a router didn’t really work, so I had a bit of a wandering line.  Fortunately most of those mistakes were…

  • I had planned on working on version 2 of the art pencil box today, but an unusually late night last night (which I have to blame on video games), plus an early and long work outage call (which I have to blame on work) combined to kill that plan.  The wife instructed me that I was banned from power tools for the day due to a lack of sleep, in case I were to accidentally cut off an arm or hand.  Wood is ready to go, and looking very nice, but I can’t actually get started. Planning on a complete…

  • Following the video failure during the last Pathfinder game, I opted to update the memory cards in the camera.  As such, I now have a pair of 32 GB cards, which combined should allow for at least 5 hours worth of video.  Unfortunately, that is the largest size of memory card the camera will hold, so I will have to swap them out and offload if the video need ends up being longer (not currently a concern).  Hopefully, this will avoid the lack of video problem I had with this latest round. Of course, an alternative answer would be a…
