The Enemy Within (Conclusion)

Its the end of an epic, with the exciting conclusion of our long running Enemy Within campaign for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. We started this campaign way back in 2021, and have been holding it regularly most weeks since then, counting up to 155 episodes and about 545 hours of gaming content goodness. From the earliest steps, when the group formed at a coaching inn north of Altdorf, to the final climactic battle in the palace of Emperor Karl Franz, their journey has taken them across the lands. More than a few threats have been defeated, and more than a few disasters created along the way. If you have the stamina, our full chronicle is on YouTube, going back almost to the beginning.

For the final challenge, the group has returned Ghal Maraz to the Emperor, but during the ceremony of transition, disaster strikes. Villains emerge from the shadows whom have plagued the group since all the way back in episode 001, and the full power of Tzeentch is unleashed on the unsuspecting city of Altdorf. Many people are killed in the resulting battle, including a few notable characters, and none of the players escape unscathed. At the end of the session, we have successfully concluded the story, for better or worse for the Empire.

Our tradition for the last few campaigns has been to hand out a GM gift to each of the players for a momento of the story. In this case, I 3d-printed a Ghal-Maraz replica at life-size scale. This was customized to reflect the campaign, and the dates of the game, and then I hand painted each of the artifacts. Each player received a copy, along with their choice of either a shelf stand or a wall hanger stand to display the piece. Hopefully these will remain for many years, and bring back fond memories of the shared experience.

For our final episode, I thank everyone that has followed along with our storyline, and especially Cubicle 7 for their current reprinting of the Enemy Within campaign.

Our next stop at this point is leaving the world of Warhammer behind, and moving to a new creation, as we are soon to kick off a new long-length Rolemaster storyline.
