Currently in development, I am looking into the option of running a second major campaign to begin in January or February with the Extinction Curse adventure path, to be recorded and broadcast similar to our Age of Ashes campaign. Right now, I am teaching a whole new cast the basics of the game with a shorter adventure, while I continue to streamline my editing workflow. If all goes well, I should be able to announce more in late December, as I start to firm up the various details. Format would be very similar to our Age of Ashes campaign, but…

Managed to hold our regularly scheduled game yesterday, and successfully capture the video and audio for the session. This is the first session with the new audio equipment, so I am hopefully the quality will be improved. Now I need to filter, restructure, and edit the footage into the normal format, which will likely take at least a few days. In particular, this did add some complication to my current template, since I now have directional audio. That means I had to change the audio source for each of the various camera angles and compositions – hopefully those should all…

The first floor of the watchtower project is printed and temporarily assembled. Everything fits and lines up nicely, and the door swings well. Obviously still needs a coating of paint to bring out the details, but that will wait until the full assembly is done. Biggest issue this had (other than general printer problems) is a bit of warping in the first few tiles. This is causing the base to be a bit unbalanced, but not bad enough that a proper mounting on some chipboard or similar can’t fix it.

Now that I am home from traveling again, I can give some focus to the printing, and the layer shifting it has been doing. Currently, my working theory is overheating in the y-axis motor – I believe I am just pushing it too hard and/or it is aging. So my current option is to slow down the prints, reducing the travel speeds by 33% from 3000mm/s to 2000mm/s. Of course, this makes the print time go up by a similar amount. Fortunately, the current models are not that long either way, only a couple of hours, so it isn’t that…

New troubles, or returning troubles, with the 3d printer – my prints have started to shift again. This was a problem a few weeks ago, the prints would seemingly randomly shift in the y-axis, resulting in faulty or unusable prints. After my office remodel, I releveled the printer, and tried some other prints, and the problem was mysteriously gone. In the process, I also had to replace the cooling fan as well, since the fan had died (and it was making the x-axis motor overheat). For whatever reason, the printer was working very well again, and I managed to finish…

Had a successful kickoff of our second campaign group, with the start of pre-generated characters in The Fall of Plaguestone stand-alone adventure from Paizo. The group is utilizing 7 of the 12 iconic characters, which works well and were well received by all involved. This is really intended as a “learn the system” type adventure – once we wrap it up in a few sessions, then the plan is to roll into another large campaign to run in parallel to the Age of Ashes. Although I did end up recording the audio, it was mainly for my testing and experimentation…

Here in Ohio, the cold weather has arrived with a vengeance. We have had a few days already where it was cold, but today seems particularly frigid, though most likely its just me not adapting quickly. Nice day to sit inside and watch the world through a window.

Over the last couple of years, I have slowly collected a number of different 3d printing filaments, primarily in PLA. For the most part, those have been stored in various boxes, but that makes it difficult to remember what I have, and to (more importantly) actually use it. With the recent office remodel, I opted to bring them out of the boxes, and make the spools accessible. A couple of printed brackets later, and a strong wooden dowel, and I have a solid filament rack above the printer. Admittedly it is a bit higher than I would have preferred, but…
