• ActivityPub update

My thanks to @kenSwinson@indieweb.social for their help and troubleshooting with ActivityPub integration into WordPress (visit their website at https://www.kenswinson.com/). Although I thought it was a simple matter of loading a plugin, it turned out to be a little bit more complex. Technical process really is that simple – just load the plugin and configure. However, the real difference is how the data presents itself and the connections are utilized. ActivityPub’s plugin allows for a connection between this website (using WordPress) and a Federated site like Mastodon. Thru whatever programming magic, it creates an entity on Mastodon to post website updates,…

  • Viewport video content

Over the past month or so, I have been trying to get into the habit and practice of posting a weekly video blog style video, going over some behind the scenes stories and covering recent and future activities. This has been evolving each time and is a good way for me to practice speaking to the camera. However, I opted to publish these to my Roleplaying channel, which wasn’t really a good match. Admittedly the Star Wars channel wasn’t a good option either, so I expected my first choice to be the least disruptive. Functionally, as I understand it, the…

  • Second attempt to link up ActivityPub

  • Trying to troubleshoot our new ActivityPub addon, which supposedly posts WordPress to Mastodon, and Mastodon replies back to WordPress. The first part is working fine, Mastodon is receiving the postings, but I can’t seem to puzzle out how to get the responses. Functionally, I think it is my own misunderstanding – I expect the software works, I just don’t know how to use it. Current theory is that the reply needs to be in response to the direct original post, so going to test that somewhat.

  • Subscriber milestone, slowly growing

We hit another milestone for our YouTube presence (Halfing13) this morning, breaking into the 700-subscriber mark. For our channel, this is major, but for most of YouTube, it is just a small blip. The Star Wars Legion content appears to have been making steady progress each month, though our video production schedule has been challenged at times. The goal of 1000+ is one step closer to realization. Unfortunately, with the apparently cancellation of X-Wing and Armada, that content may not materialize – though my collection hopes to still play at some point. As an aside, our RPG side channel (Halfling13_Roleplay),…

  • Pirates of Drinax, Episode 2

As we shift into a more routine summer schedule, our various live-play roleplaying sessions are starting to settle down on schedule. We were able to fit in the second session of our Pirates of Drinax campaign, our home-grown Franken-system of Shadowrun and Traveller, with the group continuing their exploration of the Trojan Reach. Having ventured to Torpol, investigating recent pirate attacks, they then followed the leads to an abandoned deep-space station, now converted as a pirate prison, in search of one of the pirate attackers. What they found was a derelict hulk of a station, damaged and barely operative, infested…

  • Star Wars Legion – Welcoming Dan to the channel

Our most recent battle report is posted now, with Episode 083 matching the Empire against the Shadow Collective. This battle was our introduction to a guest player, General Dan, who was eager to join us for a game. Dan has quite a bit of tournament experience, and a very competitive Empire Tempest Force list – he was matched up voluntarily by William playing a revision of his Shadow Collective army. The Empire was heavy on the scout troopers and speeder bikes, the Collective brought Pykes, Swoops, and A-A5 Speeder Trucks. Battle Report #083 The battle itself was short – it…

  • Utilizing the ActivityPub addon for WordPress, my website is now officially federated directly. This means several things: This should be a bit cleaner, and hopefully still just as functional. If you have interest and willingness to follow the website, feel free to look us up at (Halfling13@www.halfling13.com) and join in the conversation. Although I may still post as myself on occasion, most of my activity on Mastodon will shift over to the website entity in short order.
