Got the opportunity to play some RuneWars Miniatures with my younger son over the weekend – a game he picked up a few weeks ago and had been eager to try. Not sure if after playing he is fully sold on the game, though he is eager to buy more figures now, but I don’t know if he ended up truly understanding the game itself. Being 9, he is more interested in just playing with the miniatures, rather than playing a rules-based game. However, RuneWars is written simple enough that he can understand it, and grasp the mechanics, while still…

Lots of plans for this weekend, for what was supposed to have been relatively quiet. Fortunately, most are what I would consider fun activities, so not a big concern. Tonight we head down to the summer camp to visit my son, who has been at camp all week. Should be a good moral booster for him to see everyone. Tomorrow, Ben and I are planning on finally playing Runewars (video possible) – I have read the rules and mechanics, and it should be a simple enough game to pick up. And Sunday, although we postponed the next Pathfinder game, we…

I was attempting to configure a custom Ark server for my son, who is eager to try some of the numerous Admin codes, but unfortunately it was overloading my minimal webserver, and preventing WordPress from responding. As a result, you may have noticed a lot of lag over the last couple of days, or pages unable to load. That should be resolved now (I turned off Ark), and I will need to find an alternative home for the service. I am not excited about another hosting subscription, but that is how we run our main instances, so it may be…

So here I am on my latest round of work-related travel, when I discover that my intended video sync-up on my laptop did not take place as planned. As a result, I am stuck downloading the 22 GB file over hotel wi-fi from my home server. Not a good start to my attempt to get caught back up on my editing efforts for the Pathfinder game. Fingers crossed it will be completed by the time this is posted, so I can start the editing, but I honestly am not counting on that. Unfortunately, I don’t have much alternative time once…

Due to some scheduling conflicts, we are not going to be having our regular Pathfinder session this week, so I am going to attempt to fill the gap with a game of Zombicide: Black Plague. Should be a lot of fun, and still be able to occupy the players who are available. And incidentally gives me more time to finish editing the last game session, for which I am behind schedule on.

My kids recently have taken an interested in online gaming streaming, specifically around our efforts with Ark: Survival Evolved. After a bit of discussion, they have encouraged me to try my hand at that sort of effort and content again myself. I had previously made some short-lived efforts which lived on Twitch, but never really got into the mechanics and process – and certainly never gained any sort of following – so it ended up dropped to the side. The newest effort is to reside on YouTube, and continue to showcase our growing Ark environment on our private server. Nothing…

Apparently Epic Loot was missing part of their shipment yesterday, so I was only able to obtain the Hammerhead Corvettes for the Rebels. Not a big concern, since I normally am playing Rebels 🙂 I am sure the Imperial Carrier will arrive sometime in the future, and I will no doubt be back to pick up a copy of that ship as well. Now to revise the fleet list, to incorporate the new cards and ships.

Today is release day for Wave 6 for Star Wars Armada, so heading to the gaming store to grab a set with my son. Also going to pick up his lottery winnings at the same store, an unknown prize of Magic The Gathering goodies. For us, the local gaming store is Epic Loot in Springfield, Ohio. Great store and people, and very nice stock of options. Can’t speak very much about the location – the mall it is in has seen better days, but the store itself is very nice.
