A second model I have been working on, and recent acquisition over the holidays, is the recent Super Tactical Droid. The figure was fairly simple to assemble, being just a basic droid, and I opted to paint it in more neutral colors (rather than a special pattern of the named versions). Nothing too fancy here – a bit of zenithal highlighting, a couple layers of contrast paint, and some highlights on the eyes and the figure is done. Next step, once I finish the other pieces, is the basing. For that I will be following my established grasslands pattern, which…

It has been a while, but with recent gaps in gaming, I am making some more progress on the painting backlog. My son and I are tackling more of the Legion troops, myself with a mix of Rebel and CIS forces, and George working on his Clone army. First up is an unlikely pair of droids, long part of my collection, but only now being colorized. I did end up applying some Nuln Oil to C3PO, and then a drybrush of a much lighter gold – brightened him up quite a bit. R2 looked a lot better too after the…

Years ago, one of my favorite game systems for RPGs was and still is the Rolemaster mechanics. High fantasy, and realistic and deadly combat, combined with more than its share of technical crunch and math, we spent many sessions in the worlds and settings using those rules. Over time, the published ruleset evolved into a much more watered down system, but I have always kept the original books – especially the infamous Arms Law. At some point in the past, with extensive house rules, I opted to codify our ruleset into what we referred to as “Pathmaster” – a combination…

As planned, we held our first (hopefully annual) Twilight Imperium tournament on New Year’s Eve. Although we had planned to start at 2 PM, it was pushed back to 5 PM due to player availability. All 8 players battled long and hard into the night, with us wrapping up due to exhaustion at 5 AM after a 12 hour game. Sadly, we were not able to fully complete the game, ending on Turn 6, and players were not available to resume the following evening. As a result, per the agreed mechanics, we had a summary judgement and the winning team…

A couple days late, but still valid, as we welcome in the new year of 2022. Haven’t been posting much over the last couple of weeks mainly due to the holiday season, and a still busy work schedule. This last year was an interesting one, most of my content has become easier to produce and hopefully slightly better quality. I can’t say that the audience has grown a lot, but even the couple of additional subscribers or visitors is still significant against the small starting size. At this point, I am continuing to stream our gaming efforts, for both Pathfinder…

It always the holidays when the Nut Roll production begins. In a few hours, the house will be filled with the backing of the bread, and plenty of goodies will be added to the holiday treat list. Only a lucky few will receive one – each is a significant effort.

With the end of the year, a new tradition is attempting to be started, with a New Year’s Eve Twilight Imperium game. With a host of friends, some good food and decent drink, we are planning on a multi-hour game session of Twilight Imperium with the Prophecy of Kings supplement – allowing for 8 players fighting for victory. Currently, we have 7 players selected, and one open slot that is pending. Our game schedule will start at approximately 2 PM on the 31st, and continue until we have victory, are all players collapse. In preparation, I am preparing a trophy…

Very solid start to our Chapter 2 of the Carrion Crown, with the group heading to Lepidstadt. Despite a short detour into the marshes around the region, they managed to make it to the town safely, and quickly found themselves caught up in the whirlwind of events around the trial of the century – the trial and expected convinction of the Beast of Lepidstadt. The group now finds themselves, willingly or otherwise, as the designated defenders of this beast, in an effort to obtain some sense of a fair trial. Overall, the group did well, despite the minimal combat, and…
