• Successful repair operation to replace the extruder fan on the Prusa i3MK3 3d printer. As previously reported, I was receiving sporadic temperature failures, which eventually lead to complete failures whenever the first layer was completed. The screen indicated either a TMC overtemp error, or a Crash Detected. In reality, it was neither. Instead, it was a broken connection on the front extruder fan, resulting in either a loss of connectivity or a short circuit. I would have easily wasted a lot of time troubleshooting issues but ended up stumbling onto the fix accidentally. During my testing, I flashed the firmware,…

  • Been tinkering with my default Legion graphics and looking for some feedback. Specifically, I have a couple options, and I am looking for what works and what doesn’t. For episode 6, I have two choices, but I am open for other suggestions. Goal is for the thumbnail of the videos – give me some honest feedback. First option is the default, this is the format that I have been using for some time, I adjust each session based on the content using a basic template. However, most other similar battle report videos seem to default to a snapshot of one…

  • Been dealing with a problem with my 3d printer, the Prusa i3MK3s that I have been running for the last couple of years. Up until recently, it has been running very well – solid prints, reliable operation, no major issues. In recent months, I did have an issue with bed adhesion to the removable build plate, but that was resolved with a surface treatment. However, as of last week, I started having a new issue. The printer starts correctly, calibrates the level, and then starts printing. Everything runs fine, until the end of the first layer, at which point the…

  • Going to be a bit of a slowdown likely this month in my video content, it is just becoming rather challenging to keep up with the fairly high publishing level. Specifically, with the US Halloween season, we have paused our Extinction Curse campaign until November, so no new sessions there. In addition, with the open Sunday, we spent quality family time instead of packing in more Star Wars: Legion. As such, it is unlikely we will have another video for this week. Plenty more content to come though, it is definitely not being dropped, just takes time to record the…

  • Trying an experiment and testing out a YouTube Short video format for our battle reports. Obviously, can’t keep all the detail of the game in only 60 seconds, but I am trying a highly condensed/edited format, with only the most notable game highlights. Published the first effort (and then quickly ended up re-editing and republishing it) this morning. Will remain to be seen how helpful they are, or if it is even worth the effort. Maybe get a few more followers. Ultimately, it isn’t much effort (takes about an hour to trim down the main video), and Shorts do seem…

  • A couple weeks ago I acquired a new wireless microphone set, a Rode Wireless Go II set. Keeping with my minimal budget, this was purchased thru a work reward – I had saved up and earned a number of recognition points, which was then traded in for the microphones. From what I can tell from Amazon, they are retailing at about $300, which is a far higher price point than my prior wired $10 lavalier mics. Functionally, they are basic. Each unit is about 2 inches square, and about half an inch thick. There is a receiver unit, and a…

  • It was a rather hectic and packed week this week, with several games, lots of kids sports activities, and squeezing in some more Legion, but I appear to have come thru successfully. The Legion game was a bit late this time, which made the editing schedule rather rushed, but with my templates and process I was able to wrap it up last night. So far, we are still on schedule with the video releases, maintaining 3 per week (1 Legion and 2 RPG). Coming up, the schedule will lessen a bit, we have suspended the Extinction Curse campaign for the…

  • This weekend was episode 11 of our ongoing Chapter 5 of the Extinction Curse, with the group rapidly tracking down the villain and major threat of the region. However, due to real-life scheduling issues, mainly around several group members activities for the upcoming Halloween holiday, we will be suspending this storyline for a few weeks. This will cancel the October 9 and October 23 sessions, and resume in November on the 6th. This will free up some time for other activities, most likely to rebuild our stockpile of Star Wars Legion battles, or potentially even some other games.
