• Second of the recent set to receive highlighting and details.  Nelly had a bit more challenge and detail, which overall worked out pretty well.  I am a little disappointed in the contrast between the dress and the apron, I tried to overly dry-brush the apron to try to whiten it up a bit more, but the two final colors are closer to each other than I had hoped.  The hair ended up a bit more orange than I had hoped as well, I had intended for more dark red, but it does make for a nice looking brownish-blonde, and is…

  • Finished the highlighting on Ann the Nun, and added the other details.  Not completely happy with the face and head – my eyesight isnt clear enough to have noticed the poor quality of the habit around the face – but from a game-board distance the figure is rather detailed and nice.  Overall, the figure is rather plain (which is no doubt intentional), but it really is only a couple of dominant colors, which makes it rather basic.

  • So I found that my auto-linking to Facebook (visit me here) was having difficulties with the various thumbnails I had been posting.  Apparently there is a restriction on Facebook that images need to be larger than 200×200 pixels, and my thumbnails were sized at 150×150.  As a result, each post would get an error on the picture, and then Facebook would randomly select the next qualifying image from the page.  As a result, it would either post my Patreon icon, or other irrelevant images. I have now corrected that issue, and although the thumbnails on the site will be a…

  • Third of the current set, again just at the point of base coat and washes.  Baldric wasn’t too difficult either, though as before the detail around the face suffered from my eyesight and the paint obscuring the detail.  I had some difficulty with the necromancer cloak color used for the cloak, which again was a little too watery, but not nearly as bad as previous figures, and I suspect not an issue once the highlighting is finished.

  • Second of the current set of survivors, base coated and washed, but no highlights yet.  Nelly was a bit more difficult – I spotted at least one section of her hair that was hidden and missed during the base coat.  And the white shirt and apron blended into the light colored dress a bit too much following the wash – hopefully it will have more contrast after the highlighting.  The hair was not as strong as I had hoped either – the “mythical orange” was a bit too watery (I believe I didn’t shake the bottle enough), so the initial…

  • So apparently the provider from which I subscribe and rent a pair of Ark private servers “lost” my account information and my active server instance.  The good news (what there is) is that only one of the two servers was impacted, but unfortunately it was our primary gaming world – in which we had spent countless hours collecting, taming, and building.  Ultimately, its just a game, and no real person or animal was hurt.  But it is endlessly frustrating when the work and progress you have put together can be lost in an instant, without hopes of recovery.

  • Did a bit more painting of Zombicide figures last evening, so should have some content for the next several days.  First stage was the base painting, and the shading, which then allows them to dry fully until highlighting tonight.  And since I am a bit more in practice after my prior work with Clovis, I worked in a batch with several of the survivors. First up is Ann, the Nun.  Fairly simple to paint, since most of it is black and white, with just a little bit of flesh and armor.  Hardest part was the face again, partially due to…

  • A long time ago (about 10 years or so), I created a detailed character sheet for the roleplaying game Rolemaster.  This was based in Excel, and took advantage of the programming and database options in the spreadsheet to automate most of the character generation process.  It used several hidden pages to consolidate various options and data, so that the player could semi-quickly create and print their character, and all the math and cross-referencing would already be done. In our case, this made Rolemaster a usable system.  In comparison, the first time we attempted characters by hand, it was a full…
