I spent some time, and recalibrated my expectations, and Patreon is back. I disabled the site last summer, after I realized that the ask was high, while the benefits were low. As much as I was hopeful that many people would leap at the chance to throw support to the channel, it was not realistic.
Instead, I have trimmed down the tiers and rewards to a far more mundane level – either the basic “Free” tier and a $1 “Producer” tier. If you are willing to donate your financial support, not only is it highly appreciated, but it is limited to only $1/month – something much more in line with the perceived value. By making this minimal donation, you earn a Producer role on our Discord server, a 10% discount in our Etsy shop, and call outs during our video content – along with our thanks and appreciation. At the Free tier, you don’t earn the benefits, but you still receive updates and notifications, which can be helpful as well.
