It’s been a busy week, with a new Star Wars Legion battle report (finally), a round of Pathfinder’s Kingmaker campaign, and the conclusion episode of our Rolemaster Unified intro adventure.
In Star Wars, George brings a Rebel force lead by Luke Skywalker, to face off against my Empire lead by Darth Vader. The battle was a tight one – we pushed until the very end of the activations before we were sure who had won. This made the game a lot of fun, compared to prior blowouts that end after only a couple of turns. Still a few mistakes here and there, but I think they were minor. We also introduce our new camera, bringing hopefully better and more detailed views to the footage. Take look and leave us a comment if you have any further suggestions for changes.
On the RPG side, we continue our Kingmaker campaign, as the group further investigates the mysterious disappearance of Varnhold. The group opted to do a grid search in the immediate area, before eventually taking an opportunity to visit nearby Brevoy and spend some of their recent treasures. Returning to the fields, they located the Centaur town – those based on prior encounters opted to not push their luck by approaching the creatures.
For Rolemaster, we conclude our 2-part intro adventure to Rolemaster Unity. Still a few learning mistakes, but the game is already feeling like a return to an old friend, at least to me. The heroes face off against a small horde of goblins, the source of the problem, and start a pitched battle. This gave us the intended options to walk combat mechanics, both ranged, melee, and spell, and the various modifiers. Overall, I think it ran fairly well, though some work on game aids was still needed. By the end of the session, though we had to cut it a bit short and didn’t finish the fight, everyone was comfortable enough with the system that we can consider long term characters. I am slowly growing a few articles on the website to document the setting, along with character generation notes.
As part of the Rolemaster effort, I have also spent a lot of time updating my character sheet optimization, which I think is nearly complete. This will allow us to quickly build characters and still print them out to avoid laptops during the game. Most the mechanics are far simpler than the old days, so the math is much easier – and the laptops tend to take a lot of space.
None of this talk of Rolemaster however diminishes our Warhammer campaign, which although we paused for a week, is entering the final stretches. I am expecting the campaign to be wrapped up likely by May, and then we convert over to a brand new custom Rolemaster storyline.
