Carrion Crown

Many years ago, as part of the 1st edition of Pathfinder, I ran the Carrion Crown Campaign for the RPG group of the time. The party managed to survive to Chapter 5, before being overwhelmed by the enemy, and unable to recover. At the time, the group had grown bored of the storyline, and the action was a bit stale, so we dropped the campaign. But it was always one of my favorites for its themes and gothic atmosphere.

Fast forward to today, and our current ongoing large group. Having taken a break due to a combination of Covid, and the multiple party wipes in the Age of Ashes campaign, we are now ready to reform and regroup to start a new story. The group is still fond of 2nd Edition, but with the older players, and newer technology, I want to revisit the Carrion Crown campaign for a new generation.

We have set a date of August 8 for the kickoff of the campaign, players are actively creating characters and painting figures. It seems that after our long break, everyone is eager to resume the group adventure, especially now that we can play in person again.

For my part, I have been actively reviewing and updating the first chapters for compatibility with 2nd edition rules. In general, there isnt much to change – Paizo has already re-written the creatures, but I need to review the encounters to make sure that the balance continues. I am also working to migrate and automate maps and scenes into the new virtual table top options – we will be using these for digital maps, though we will not be using the software beyond that.

Stay tuned for further updates and background details, as the start of our campaign approaches.
