Pathfinder: Kingmaker

Continuing our current Kingmaker campaign, the group set out from Oleg’s again, after managing to have several of the group cleansed of their recent lycanthropy curses. Unfortunately, those cures cost most of the remaining resources, so the group was looking for a big win to bring in some needed resources.

To this end, they opted to cleanse the bandit’s from the region, and tackle their main camp. Not only would that bring in a bounty from the nearby crown, but it would also go a long way to making the region safe for travellers.

Unfortunately, the camp itself was rather heavily occupied, with a couple dozen active bandits, including a handful of defenses in the event of attack – as the stealthier members of the group discovered during their scouting. Plan B instead was to ambush some of the hunters from the camp, when they were away from the main group – however due to a combination of speed and stealth capability, only a small subset of the group would have a passable chance to surprise them. Thus the Ranger, Cleric, and Monk alone went out to track down and eliminate the group of 4 hunters. With the element of surprise, some quick actions, and a bit of luck, this was accomplished without much issue. Confident in their abilities, the group then moved to assault the main camp, now slightly reduced in number.

At this point however, their luck began to fail. The monk, attempting to sneak up to one of the hunting blinds used for defense, managed to make far too much noise and alerted the guards. Suddenly the surprise attack turned into a full on assault – bandits quickly moving into position on the far side of the small stream to launch volley after volley of arrows at the group, while the group was unfortunately caught in the open with minimal cover.

Rapidly, the battle changed from a surprise to a stalemate – the group unable to move forward, while taking hits from the constant arrows. In the chaos, the Sorcerer, Ranger, Monk, and Druid were injured when they overloaded the treehouse guard post. As several managed to fall back to the main group (taking cover near an old wagon), the bandits moved up and captured the Sorcerer.

We ran out of time, and had to end with an ultimatum from the bandits – surrender or they would slay the Sorcerer.
