As Halloween approaches, we enter into our annual one-shot season for our gaming group. Typically, this time frame is challenging with schedules, so I plan for several games that are shorter, without the long-term commitment of our other campaigns. This also gives us a chance to try out some alternative games, without necessarily being too attached to the characters. In previous years, this was Call of Cthulhu time, with the 80’s adventure “The Dare” being run the first year, and “Salo’s Glory” being run the second year. Both were well received, and we managed to run several groups thru each.…

With my recent attention to the Bolt Action wargame, I have rekindled some interest in the North Africa theatre of WWII. As a result, I have been looking for any movies or media that is worth watching in that setting. Admittedly, most of what I am finding is very old – most of the Hollywood focus is on the European or Pacific wars, and not much seems to be in the deserts. This is out of a curiosity and sense of interest – already discovering a few facts I either didn’t know or had forgotten. I started with one of…

Managed to get in a couple of games on Sunday, processing now for the battle reports hopefully by Friday. First up was a rematch of my Rebel forces with Ben’s Empire force, revised to version 3 for the units. He dropped the Dark Troopers, and opted for a fully loaded AT-ST, which was a serious threat to the swarms of Rebel Troopers. Ben’s tactics are definitely improving, he spotted several combos and options I have entirely overlooked. I won’t spoil the results, but the battle was a solid effort on both sides. We also managed to finally play our first…

This week we have new sessions coming for both the Pathfinder 2e Kingmaker campaign, as well as our ongoing Warhammer FRP The Enemy Within storyline. Both as usual will be available Friday morning. I am happy to see our audience has grown slightly again, with a larger number of views on recent episodes. Our Traveller Shadowrun campaign, The Pirates of Drinax, unfortunately is going into cold storage. We haven’t abandoned the storyline or characters, but our gaming schedule continues to be disrupted. Over the past 12 sessions, we have ended up only holding 4 of those sessions, meaning a lot…

Recently, I have been inspired to branch out into new gaming, because of course I have nothing but free time and lots of disposable income (neither accurate). I have always been curious about the Bolt Action tabletop wargame, which as I understand has been going strong for many years. At this point, at the end of September, they are releasing a new version of the rules (version 3), which gave me enough motivation to finally get involved. Unlike Star Wars Legion, Bolt Action focuses on historic units and factions, specifically around World War II time frames. Think typical Axis and…

Since apparently my plan for slate and cork coasters is on hold due to indefinite shipping delays for the blanks at Amazon, I focused in on my Reindeer Flight gift box design instead. This is something I made last year for the wife as a give-away to family, designed to hold 6 festive bottles of beverages. Rather complex design, making sure all the cuts and angles work out, but a fairly simple assembly. Last year, the design worked well – I made several and they were all successful. This year however when I went to remake them, some of the…

With the new laser, I am looking into alternate product lines. I have revised and renewed a couple older projects, but I am looking at several designs for drink coasters as an expansion. I have always been entertained by various designs, typically meme-inspired. And with a faster and more capable laser, I am having a bit of fun creating a few options. In particular, I am looking at very basic cork coasters, and a bit more high-end slate coasters. Admittedly the market is saturated with both (so lots of competition), but there is also an infinite number of designs and…
