As we prepare to kick off our new Shadowrun campaign, the players have been actively providing concept art and character backgrounds. I continue to be impressed by the effort and world building they are putting in. As a result, I started to dive into the world building on my end as well.
Our basic premise is street level runners in Seattle of 2072. I do not lean into the “official” world, there is just too much content to read and absorb and not enough time. Instead, consider any published material as inspirational, but likely not be followed.
Instead, our group begins living in the neighborhood known as Junction Nine. Their “world” as it is is limited to this neighborhood alone for the first many game sessions – it has plots, stories, and supplies to cover our needs. Included is a bit of background, notable landmarks and a selection of key NPCs. This should give the players a solid foundation for the initial story lines.
On the GM side, I have a similar detail, which expands into mission details and rumors to unite all the pieces.
