We are preparing to launch our next major campaign, using the Rolemaster Unified system, starting this next week Wednesday, May 13. Currently, the plan is to continue with the Wednesday night schedule, but due to some life changes, we may have to shift the game – we will make that announcement when it is confirmed.
In the meantime, join us each Wednesday for the adventures of the group. Unlike prior campaigns, this will be a home-grown and custom storyline – I have no prewritten modules that I am using. Events will no doubt be inspired by my larger collection, and individual pieces may be from modules, but the overall campaign is custom and home-grown – there is no end-game known at this point.
All of the group begins in the village of Harthyn’s Hold, a remote and isolated self-sufficient village of approximately 30 families. The town has all the basics they need, food, water, materials, etc, and a safe location from outside threats provided by an ancient stone circle that surrounds the village. Due to their isolation, they never really received many visitors, and even those have not been seen in many years. Instead, life goes on in a steady yearly cycle. Player characters are some of these villagers, who have grown up and spent their entire life in this village, never wandering far, and contributing to the structure of the town.
We start off the story on the day of the Harvest Festival, an annual party of the villagers to celebrate life, another year of good harvest, mingle with friends, and welcome in the winter. It is also an opportunity for the town to welcome new adults, children who have come of age to contribute fully to the town. This year, there are 3 such children, and by traditional they will be sent out to the old watch tower to spend the night in silent observation, while the rest of the town celebrates. By morning, they will be considered adult members of the village.
