It has been a while since I have posted, due to various issues. The most relevant has been an overall system crash on my primary computer, which ended up resetting a lot of my formats and templates. This didn’t impact the webserver as such, but certainly distracted me for some time.
Fundamentally, there was (or is) an issue with a recent Windows 11 patch and existing controllers on m2 hard drives, which causes corruption or data failure. I managed to survive for a bit, but shortly after becoming aware of the issue, my computer decided to react negatively and die. This resulted in the need for a new hard drive, and full reload/rebuild of the system itself. Most of my data was safely stored in Onedrive, so no data loss, but all my applications – and most importantly – all my configuration settings were lost.
At this point, I have mostly recovered my system. 3d printer configurations are 90% rebuild and functional, though could still be tuned a bit further. My video database in Davinci Resolve was lost, so all the old project files are gone – I have the raw files, just not the layouts and templates. My laser cutting templates were lost as well, and have had to be rebuilt for various efforts. Quite a bit of mess on the entire environment.
Outside of these technical issues, we have also suffered a bit from wargame burnout. Between fall schedules, rules changes in Legion, and just general reduction in interest, we have not had the opportunity to play any of the wargames. I am still working on materials in the background, some new terrain for Mordheim, some new models for Bolt Action, and the upcoming Legion releases. But there has been a drought of content as a result. I am working to change that, either by scheduling some upcoming games, or potentially pivoting to a different format.
I have been having some success with my basic painting videos, they are much easier to make since it only requires my own effort – I don’t need to rely on the schedules of others. They also have some advantage in that it completes some of the backlog of figures. I have the initial filming done for a Bolt Action M3 Grant tank build, and for some Star Wars Legion Range Troopers, I just need to do the painting and editing to wrap them up.
