Warband “Sarcophagus”
Working on a new design, inspired by some options I saw online, to store and transport securely warband miniatures. For me, this means my Mordheim warbands, but any skirmish scale game would function. Basically, 10 to 20 models is the intent – beyond that and any storage system becomes rather unwieldy.
For me, this means not only a place to store the miniatures, but also double as a display option. Ideally, the miniatures should be secure for transport, and when closed, provide protection all around, but still be able to view or identify the models.

The result is a rectangular box. The base piece includes a tiled texture on the bottom, along with holes cut for the miniature’s bases. Within each is a magnet, which holds the miniature in place (either with a magnet or a piece of metal on the mini’s base). The back wall of the base is decorated with gothic windows, to give the impression of a display “scene”.
The top piece is more basic, but slots onto the base securely, and holds with a set of additional magnets. I do envision either some texture, or perhaps a game logo on the cover piece, but haven’t settled on that yet. Another set of the gothic windows in the front allow for viewing the models, to identify the set.
For my design, I created a parameterized model, meaning I can vary the size as needed, and all the holes, slots and dimensions line up. That way I can customize the model to whatever warband or squad size is needed. Then I apply the tile texture and hole pattern as desired and needed by the warband.
In my case, this is holding the Dwarf Treasure Hunters, with a 32mm base size, and a squad of 10 models, but it is easily expanded to up to 20 models (possibly more), including oversized creatures or mounted figures (likely requiring a taller box).
After a bit more tuning, I intend to add these to my Etsy presence as a made-to-order option.

Your display looks really cool! I’m curious about using it for my Restless Dead and the Outlaws.
