Audio challenge

So the problem I have been trying to solve with our live streams is the ability to reliably include Discord in the recording and broadcast, and maintain the overall quality. This sounds easy, but has been a riddle for many weeks. Most likely I am just not understanding how the pieces go together.

For our particular configuration, I have several mics spaced around the room, which pick up group audio and pipe it into a Zoom H6 recorder. That is then USB (or audio cable) connected to a laptop as a line-in input. I need the line-in audio to go to both OBS for the stream, as well as to Discord so that remote players can hear the group. Simultaneously, the Discord audio for remote players needs to go to both the OBS stream, as well as speaker output so the group can hear them. That speaker sound needs to also be filtered out, so that it doesnt cause an echo back onto Discord, the remote users hearing themselves.

If I monitor the H6 recorder, the audio is clear and solid. With it feeding into OBS alone, it is also solid, and OBS includes compression, limiters and similar effects to stabilize the volume. However, if I try to link Discord in, then I get crackling audio, either a lot of echo, or no audio at all – and the Discord input cuts out entirely if the voices get too loud.

I do have Voicemeter Banana running as well, though I am still experimenting with the proper format for that tool – and trying to determine how to configure compression and limits.

If you have a similar setup, and can offer some suggestions or advice, I would be very eager to hear from you. I am going to continue to try alternatives, but i am not sure what I am trying to do is even possible.
