The Dragon’s Crest

Some time ago, not exactly sure when, I acquired an STL set as part of a sale from Dragon’s Rest. If I recall correctly, it was for a modular docking bay set, but came with a fully modular set for the Dragon’s Crest design starship.

Since my dice tower collection is just about completed, I decided to dive into this project, and progressively print the pieces. Although it is time consuming, I am impressed by the design. The overall concept is miniature scale, making it useful for gaming, and includes numerous movable parts on the ship (doors, ramps, etc). Most importantly for me, the connection points and clips are particularly accurate – the parts snap together cleanly and well, leaving no gaps between parts. Initially, I had intended to glue most of the assembly together, but thus far, it is completely unnecessary. Since they also provide magnetic clip designs, I can easily add a magnetic ceiling as well, making the model whole, but still very functional.

So far, I only have about half of the model printed, the rest will likely take thru the end of the weekend. Definitely looking forward to the final product, especially as a terrain or gaming piece for our games.
