After our break, we are back with the continuing stories in Warhammer, and having new sessions of Kingmaker and Two-Headed Serpent planned. I am separating the content somewhat now, since I am working to more solidly establish the two channels as separate brands, so updates will be posted in this new format.
For Warhammer, our Enemy Within campaign continues towards the climax, with the group continuing their journey back towards Altdorf, attempting to locate the ancient site where Sigmar once empowered Ghal Maraz. They believe they have found the location, but unexpectedly it is inaccessible, since long ago the entrance collapsed. More disturbing however, there are signs of Beastmen in the region, indicating the presence of a large horde, all no doubt attracted to the power of Ghal Maraz.
Kingmaker continues next week after a lengthy break due to several scheduling conflicts, with the group continuing to investigate the mysterious disappearance of the Varnhold inhabitants.
Next week also sees a continuation of the Two-Headed Serpent Call of Cthulhu campaign, with the group being sent on a mission to sinister Oklahoma. After the last session, we are going to be doing a bit of a change, and reskinning the campaign a bit to update it to the 2020’s, instead of the 1930’s. Although the 1930’s is traditional, the challenge we are running into is familiarity – many of our older players (myself included) don’t have much issue with the time frame, since we grew up with history and movies related to the period. However our younger players have very little reference. After nearly 100 years, they are aware of the time period, but don’t really understand it any more. Its a problem similar to when we play Sci-Fi, and its a unique settings – everyone has difficulty really understanding the rules of reality – what is reasonable or unreasonable to do or expect? As a result, the characters will be updated to “modern” standards, thinking roughly a parallel 2020’s era. I am specifically going to avoid any major political issues – I have no interest in hashing out US politics either for or against. But the rest of the setting will be very similar to the real-world 2020s. Stay tuned for how well that works.
