Battle reports continue to be thin, with schedules and weather, while I work on some supporting material for the Etsy shop. On the TTRPG side, we continue our Kingmaker campaign, and kickoff an exploration of the Rolemaster Unified game system.
With Mordheim, we have a battle posted earlier this week between the Shadow Elves and the Marauders of Chaos, engaged in a basic Street Fight. As is normal for Mordheim, the fight was fast, though both sides gave it their all. Of note, I was realizing during the game that we tend to make the street fight format a basic straight street with no terrain, which isnt very engaging or detailed. For future efforts, we will be trying to at least block some of the line of sight with buildings, ramps, and obstacles to give a few paths and options.
In Kingmaker, our group completes their investigation of Varnhold, by assaulting the nomadic Spriggans inside the keep of the town. This proved a bit more dangerous than they envisioned, with the Spriggans able to mount a solid defense. What the cause of the missing villagers is is still a mystery, but a few more clues were discovered, and the group has several leads at this point.
On the Rolemaster front, we are trying out the new Rolemaster Unified game system. Ages ago, we played Rolemaster as a group almost exclusively, so it is a return to nostalgia for myself. We recently had used a hybrid of old Rolemaster and Warhammer for our Warhammer FRP game, but that fizzled out eventually. In this case, the group is playing a set of young adults, in an original adventure, seeking to discover why their toys have never arrived. The scenario is meant to be light-hearted and simple, it is far more a tutorial of how the system works and the balances between options, then a serious adventure thread, but everyone seemed to have fun thus far – though we ended up short on time. Eventually, I have a Rolemaster campaign planned for after our Enemy Within campaign wraps up in a few months, at which point everyone will begin with fresh, long term characters.
