Star Wars – Shatterpoint

A view behind the scenes, as I work to assemble the mountain of plastic that is the Star Wars Shatterpoint starter set. I opted to pick this game up on release day, and have been working on it off and on since. Within a few weeks, I hope to have everything assembled and painted, and to hopefully get in a few practice games before we start adding this content to the channel.

For the models, I am both amazed and horrified by the amount of detail. The individuals follow more of the style of the animated series, which is fine, and are slightly larger scale than those of Legion. However, the pieces are filled with quite a bit more detail. This makes it nice from a painting standpoint, plenty of options for colors and highlights. But it also makes it a pain for assembly, as many of the models have very small and delicate pieces. Lightsabers in particular are long and very thin, and the B1 Battle Droids have several more parts than the Legion version. With my large, old fingers, it was a challenge to properly assemble all the tiny pieces of plastic.

I am opting to not base these models initially, so that I can hopefully paint them a bit more accurately. Will see how long that lasts, with the various pieces.

I have just started the buildings and terrain, and from what I have been reading, there are some challenges. Most of the instructions though are clear, at least if you have experience with this form of modeling, and it really is just about taking your time.
