Cub Scouts – Arrow of Light

Over this last weekend, we bid farewell to our long-time Cub Scout den, as each of the boys crossed over to the Boy Scouts (now the Scouts of America).  We have led this den with these boys for over 4 years, and had a great number of activities with each.  Over the years, they have each earned a number of achievements, awards and ranks – the most notable being their Arrow of Light.

Traditionally, this award is created and built by the Den Leaders, and we duplicated our prior den’s award with a few enhancements.  Each award is a simple pine board, stained and finished.  The Arrow of Light symbol is a gold vinyl adhesive, cut out in detail by the wife’s crafty tools.  The arrows are each hand-made by Vince’s Arrows, but the thread pattern on each was hand-woven by the wife to represent the path and awards of each boy.  Each pattern is customized for their particular achievements, giving them a long term memory of their Cub Scout journey.

Congratulations to all 5 of our boys, and we wish them luck on their future adventures.
