I have been working on trying to enhance the materials for Star Wars: Armada, and have been focused recently on the scenery pieces – the space station and asteroid markers.  With the game, these are simple cardboard pieces, which work, but are not as nice as the full 3d ships and squadrons.  There was a group or company that briefly provided 3d versions of the scenery, but as I understand it, due to copyright issues, they were forced to stop producing.  I have also checked for 3d printing options, which may be workable, but will take a bit of time to modify for the cases of debris fields.  However, for the space station, I settled on in my mind a good substitute, using a model of a Droid Control ship from the prequel movies.  The model is rather detailed, and after a bit of scaling down, fits over the cardboard template without much concern.  With a base and a stand, I think this will work well.

Admittedly a Droid Control ship is not a space station, an the purists will say that it isn’t even from the same time period – but in my mind, certainly some of the ships would have survived, and I could easily see them converted into stations.  Or maybe there are simply stations of similar design?  Who knows, its all make believe anyway 🙂
