I haven’t played any games in a while, but I continue to collect and try to play Star Wars Armada.  When we last played, one of the maneuver sticks used for the game was a bit damaged – one of the gear “clicks” became a bit soft, making it hard to lock it into place.  We ended up just living with it, but it was an annoyance.

Now with a 3d printer, I have options (beyond just buying a new one for $10).  Overnight, I printed out a new set successfully.  No, they are not technically “legal” in terms of tournaments (not that I play those), and there is some inconsistencies in the print, but they are more than fine for home use.  Not only can I replace the damaged one, I know can print combinations of each of the different speeds, rather than using sticks that are too long for a given maneuver.  If you have played the game, you know how useful this can be.  Total price of the material was about $0.70, plus an overnight printing (and the printer).
