Funding is now non-funded

Back when I started this site, and mainly when I started editing and posting videos (and then podcasts), I had never really expected this hobby to turn a profit or really make much money at all.  And over the years, my total earnings have come up to approximately $1 – not even enough for a cup of coffee (or to receive a check).  Not an issue as well, this is less of a job, and more of an interest.

Unfortunately, yesterday, YouTube apparently announced that any potential earnings are even further away, as they released updates to the monetization policies.  As of February, a given channel will need at least 1000 subscribers, and a monthly viewing time of 4000+ hours, in order to be eligible for ad revenue.  Of course the ads will no doubt continue to run, but the creator will not receive any of the fees.

Since my channel as of today has only 8 subscribers, and a monthly watch time of about 80 minutes, I am a far cry away from any sort of revenue.  Of course that just means I lose out on my $0.02 per month, so its not going to break anything, but it is discouraging that it will take that much more effort and growth before there is any meaningful gain.

If you wish to help out, please consider a subscribe on YouTube, and perhaps watch a few videos.  You can also contribute thru Patreon, or thru the TinyCoffee link at the bottom left menu.  Again, I don’t expect this to be a replacement career, but a few pennies here and there helps to motivate me to continue.
